Doubt Manning & Co at Nebraska will take 2nd this next season. Transfers & payment are the reality of today. Not taking part if a kid wants to come to your school & is talented enough to compete seems stupid. Before the current system Schools would let a kid come even nowing they would sit a year. No matter how often NCAA brass insisted "you commit to a school" we all know athletes commit to a coach & staff. Finally kids have more of a choice, with the downside for many schools being they basically have to re-recruit their own athletes every year. More power to Iowa if this helps them be more competitive.

When statistics show the majority of Professional Athletes have serious financial problems within a few years after retirement - they need solid financial advice. Attending a University and getting paid for it the schools need to provide solid support in the way of financial counseling. Not doing so pretty well assures one or more of those who hit the financial skids later will blame the school and an enterprising lawyer will file suit against the institution for them. As an example, Vince Young earned around $26 million in six seasons playing professional football. Young trusted the wrong financial planner who reportedly misappropriated $5.5 million of his money. Because of this and poor spending habits, Young was forced to file bankruptcy. Baseball great Curt Schilling saw a future in video games and spent $50 million in creating his own company, 38 Studios. Fast forward a couple years. 38 Studios filed bankruptcy, and Schilling is out his $50 million investment. Big earnings early without sound business advice and planning leads to problems.

A lot of College athletes are now being paid. Some Millions of $$$. Do the schools now have tax and financial advisors to help them avoid tax complications? If not, are the schools liable in some way when the kid goes broke? Do they now have to declare themselves Professional Athletes? With the money do they have to declare room & board, tuition paid and such as income? Looks like a whole new set of problems.

Seems...a bit silly. -------------------- Coffee, tea & booze are forbidden with the Mormon Word of Wisdom., the "revelation" that says doing so is advisable so you will "run and not be weary and walk and not faint". Oklahoma State, Iowa, Penn State. The big dogs with a few others maybe fitting in as they won a number of titles before Iowa found the formula. A few others in the mix but not dynasty teams. Good & occasionally great but not sustainable. Oklahoma and Iowa State are two of those. Good and won a number of titles but not like OSU, Iowa and now Penn State. OSU did it with different coaches through the decades. Iowa was Gable & a few runs after he retired. Penn State is the big dog now. When you are winning you attract wrestlers who want to be part of the magic. Wrestlers who want to compete at the highest levels. A number of them who want to wresle for "The Coach" - and it perpetuates itself, at least for a time. No matter the Coach and team no one gets all the top guys. The coaches of these teams somehow have kids who wrestle to their potential. who buy into the system and work for it - for some reason moreso than at other schools. This year Penn State underperformed and still set a scoring record - breaking the one they set last year. At one point Iowa under Dan Gable won nine titles in a row. What is it that has these schools so dominant for so long?
