POKEMONSTER wrote "I'd personally be embarrassed being a 19 year old senior year. What the hell are they doing in high school still? Move on to college and stop playing with the kiddies. " Illness, injury & even birthdays come into play for some. An older article. https://www.edweek.org/teaching-learning/delaying-childs-starting-age-for-school-a-tough-call-for-parents/2017/08 One more current. https://www.theparentz.com/parenting/when-should-a-child-start-school I know of two cases of twins where the birth date came into play & caused problems. One, starting school. The other, problems with advancement in their Church. The one starting school came up against an administrator who held fast to the "mandatory" birth date to start school. Twins born minutes apart around Midnight. Before midnight - just made the cutoff to start school. After midnight, one day later & missed the cutoff so started that grade a year after his brother.(identical twins) Parents did not have the money to hire an attorney & the administrator would not bend at all. Caused problems that plagued the kids for a long time. The other, a church rule. Birth right at midnight, New Years Eve/New Years day. Again, roulette with the Bishop of their church - another rule bound type. Kid born just before midnight was "a year older" on paper so was ordained a Deacon in his church the year he turned 11. His identical twin brother was not ordained a deacon until the next year - the year he turned 11. He did have the distinction of being "first baby of the New Year" where it happened so the family got a ton of presents & such for him - and just the bills for the first son. We know at times the kid has no say of parents are adament about holding a kid out/or back for a year. Then comes medical reasons for some. Or Home Schooling & transition to regular school & the kid tests far behind for the indicated year & is now older than his classmates. We live with what happens & it is not always good for the kids. When in High School we had a wrestler who was way more mature. Very good wrestler. Was disqualified when protests were made & investigation placed him at 23 years old. Was living in the Indian Dormatories, born on the Reservation and no Birth Certificate available. He was not a big kid - wrestled about 145 or so - but much more mature than everyone else. Once off the team he walked out of the dorms & left. Apparently hitched rides back to The Big Rez - this was 1960's. Just some interesting stuff.

Iowa needs action now (2 proposed solutions)

"otherwise the power balance is irreparably tilted toward Penn State and Ok State." Have you not been paying attention since 2011? At least where Penn State is concerned? As for OSU - they have to beat Iowa in a dual first. -
A decade ago we were discussing the same stuff with Snyder, Burroughs and co. Time flys & we are having fun. Good luck to all our guys & gals.

Penn State, Ohio State - sex abuse problems

The first account I read had the QB/assistant coach saying he saw what happened in the shower & had to think about it overnight before telling Paterno. Maybe they got it wrong? -
Is it possible he got "guaranteed" signing money that vested after a specific time & now that time has passed? If so, he can do the whole show again & make even more money. Does he give refunds to any of those who bought his I Love Iowa gear?
-
Bet he hopes "God's Plan" is national titles on the mat & not a major brain tumor or cancer or becoming a paraplegic after getting hit by a drunk driver or getting wiped out in a tornado.

Cael is Mormon,no Queens allowed. Just pray you don't get Donny Osmond.
-
Wonder if Cael is off key when singing this to prospective recruits?
-
Question is, will they even show up?
-
Considering what the Orange A-hole just did to Iran they might not be much of a threat at International tournaments where USA wrestlers are for awhile.

If this is intended as a backhanded swipe at some of us, you are not credible. Not perfect here. But, have lost a number of jobs from stepping in to stop egregious behavior. Also have awards from Law Enforcement(including FBI) for stepping in and stopping some illegal activity at times & physically dropping some in commission of crimes. When younger, probably would not do it. Later High School, University, Military - to hell with them & go for it. WHY the chickenshiz Football QB on Paternos staff did not step into the shower and beat hell ouf of Sandusky is beyond me. He went home, thought about it & "let joe know". Shock & surprise may be understandable, but inaction on following up after reporting rapes and such - inexcusable. Attorneys need to get involved and go after leadership at the Universities at every level. Administration understands Dollars paid out, not much else. As for the Catholic fiasco, watch the movie SPOTLIGHT, it is pretty accurate as to how this came to light. -
Just helping keep the jobs of the guys & girls who are paid to get the carts back in the store. They get to work outside, not cooped up in a noisy & crowded store. Much better job than being stuck inside all your shift.

Penn State - a big, tough football player saw a kid being abused in the shower. He did NOTHING to stop it, only told Coach Paterno about it. Ohio State - a Ref says he was accosted in the showers. He did NOTHING to stop it, only reported it. What is wrong with these turkeys? Wouldn't anyone watching a kid be abused step in and beat hell out of the attacker? IF not sure about your strength, wouldn't you start yelling, grab a chair or something and try to beat hell out of the rapist? An adult Ref is accosted - and doesn't fight back. Doesn't start yelling and try to kill his attacker? What is wrong with these people?

Jordan will make a public announcement to clear this up right after his committee holds public hearings on how Joe Biden caused the Civil War and is responsible for Rabies and disease carrying Mosquitoes. -

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2025/jun/17/ohio-state-sexual-abuse-scandal You can read a bit about it here. -
After watching the earlier match with Carr out of breath I figured he was done. Apparently made some changes & took some of the aggression from Messenbrink this time. Good luck to him in the Tournament.

Well joeyBoy, did you whine like this when Dan Gable had Iowa wiping the mat with most everyone?
-
The only "poster" is the one your mama hung on the icebox door when you were a kid. That was the highlight of a life as "a legend in his own mind".
-
It is time for Snyder to retire after his public humiliation as a john.
-
Nebraska is the place for him. Manning is getting older. Bring Burroughs on staff for a couple of years & then Manning can retire. Much like Kurdelmeier did with Dan Gable at Iowa.

Medicine balls. If you can't throw it you are off the team.

Any indication Covid is involved? Recently lost two friends to Covid that weakened them & Pneumonia took them out. Hope he recovers & does well.

Understandable. The book is still a good read. Facts from former Nuclear scientists & workers, Generals to politicians. All put in a story scenario that is chilling as it flows from a launch to the conclusion(s). Worth the time to read it. Her others are similarly well researched.
