  1. Redshirts occur for various reason. I'm pretty sure PSU redshirts kids with both short term and and long term team goals in mind. (Especially now with the upcoming logjam at multiple weights). Look at Zain: Started out redshirting as a freshman; they pulled it... only for him to redshirt the next year. It was based on team needs. Iowa has said they pull redshirts 'if the kid is ready' and can help them. O'Toole would have redshirted as a freshman if it weren't a "free year." I'm honestly not sure how much academics play into it these days. The kid was accepted to the school, the athletes get tons of support if they need it academically. (More than the average student has access to)
  2. Said lady looks like a Frankenstein monster of plastic surgery now. Some may like it, but I think it is actually pretty sad.
  3. With Echemendia, you have the shady age related allegations, where some contend that he may have been in his 20s wrestling in high school and Fargo. Then you have the felony where he allegedly attempted to strangle his female significant other. (Not sure if they are still married or ever were married.) Then if you search her name, you can find at least one other public altercation between the two. It pops right up. Those are just his google trophies. Who knows what else is out there? It was enough to get Ohio State to cut ties.
  4. No, I don't like it in either case. TBH I wasn't sure if Arnold had done something else. Neither is ready for the people they have antagonized online. While Starocci may well bonus Arnold, I think Starocci would be in a lot more pain if he faced any of those UFC fighters anytime soon!
  5. What antics? Calling out Starocci? Starocci who has flirted with retirement on social media, called out Sidakov (whom he will never wrestle), and called out numerous UFC fighters that he will never face?
  6. I'm not a fan of his whatsoever, but he's got some competition for biggest POS. I would prefer that he just goes away.
  7. Or maybe he wants us to think that he is using reverse psychology?
  8. Word from (semi-reliable) sources have AJ weighing around 210, down from 230ish.
  9. BTW are the still called "tweets" or are they something else?
  10. CT Wrestling online. Great Source! (Notice PRTC didn't write the article.)
  11. Rich Perry would be great! (and I complimented him) Using the wrong term... not so much. There's a big difference between the terms. You wouldn't say that the Bufflo Bills were 4x Super Bowl champs in the 90s. Would you. No "rabbit hole," just "correct" vs. "incorrect."
  12. OK. So how did Jason Nolf do at Worlds last year? You would say he was on a World Team, right? I mean he was second in WTT, right? Definitions of terms matter.
  13. Really? There is an actual definition. One of my college roommates/training partners was on the national team for over a decade. Never was the #1 guy. He would never say he was a world team member. (but he wanted to be one) Like it REALLY is a thing to be on the World Team or Olympic Team. People aspire to it. You wouldn't call am Olympic Team alternate an Olympian, would you? https://pennsylvaniartc.org/athletes/richard-perry/ Says "national team." You could say Brooks and McKenna were World Team members. They both made age group teams, so not technically incorrect. However the Penn RTC does make the "age group" qualifier. https://pennsylvaniartc.org/athletes/joey-mckenna/
  14. What turn did your hero use?
  15. On another positive note, do we have a "Minnow curse?" Teams are 0-2 this year when he posts his "really cool special outfit" to watch the match in, followed by taking some selfies like a 15 year old girl. Both Rutgers and ISU suffered somewhat embarrassing defeats after the Minnow outfit posts.
  16. No, he was not on the World Team. Only one guy per weight is on the World Team. He was on the "national team."
  17. I fully agree, as I did then. However, Labriola flopped to his own back out of frustration/desperation in order to create something.
  18. . It WAS 100% a scramble. Labriola flopped to his back out of desperation, trying to create a scamble to make something happen. I agree he was frustrated and was trying to make something happen. But it wasn't a turn for Starocci. Just stop pretending it was! On the other hand, I am fully in agreement that Arnold is not nearly ready for Starocci.
  19. Great guy. Amazing story. But not a world team member. Not sure where you got that info.
  20. I'm no wrestling genius, but someone named Ben Askren (who knows scrambling) indicated that Labriola executed that scramble in an incorrect manner that led to the pinfall. Its not like Starocci cranked him over with a bar or a power half. Anyone who has wrestled has to admit that "Labs" did Starocci a favor. We have all won matches like that, and most of us probably lost some. It is what it is. 3:32
  21. Saldate has a huge MMA following.
  22. Did he pin "Labs", or did "Labs" pin himself?
  23. There is nothing about these two statements that is necessarily contradictory. Get guys in the right spots (for the team) and then coach them each to their fullest potential. If everyone reaches their goals, you are going to have a successful team.
  24. How many techs does Starocci have in his career? Are we talking the same Starocci that squeaked by Nelson Brands in a home meet?
  25. Any way to verify the story that he wrestled Gilman at an age group tourney and won?
