  1. Has anyone considered possible "jet leg?' That's where your legs are cramped up on a long flight and walking is tough after. My teammate claimed he got this on the way to national duals. I would say that it is certainly something that could decrease performance.
  2. Twisting kneelock is a great cradle setup too!
  3. It actually does, but probably closer to what MidWest is talking about. Creating PDs can be construed as stalling, which is a penalty. I know you want a penalty for an illegal hold, I get it. It would probably have to become a point of emphasis for officials for this to happen. Twisting kneelock is illegal, but there probably needs to be a bit clearer definition and emphasis.
  4. In high school, the call is often used when someone tries to get a PD by standing up with legs in, or throwing a leg in after the opponent stands up. Fairly common, and happened in OT of PA state finals this year. Repeatedly forcing re-starts by utilizing a referee's PD call is a stall.
  5. High school allows an official to make a stall call anytime a wrestler repeatedly intentionally creates a PD situation.
  6. https://victorybellrings.com/2021/12/05/penn-state-wrestling-full-results-lehigh/ 2021 dual it was It certainly makes sense to sit guys based on Cael's philosophy and all the stuff coming up for them.
  7. The recurring Lehigh flu. (and I'm actually joking, not mean-spirited; but I do remember they sat some guys against Lehigh in the past and we were told "flu.")
  8. Rob Koll? Nico Provo? Hamilton?
  9. True, but that wasn't what I was hearing when I brought up Provo as someone Koll took with him. I was hearing '3rd stringer at best, no big loss.' Not bad for a 3rd stringer.
  10. As far as Nico Provo: I have been told more than once on this board that Provo switching his commitment to Stanford from Cornell wasn't really a loss to the Big Red program 'because he would never start over Ungar or Greg D.' Well, after having a great tournament this weekend, he has made it look like a big loss to Grey's program. Either Koll knew this kid had greater potential than Ungar or he's received better coaching in Palo Alto.
  11. I wouldn't say he's being rewarded for not being there, as he was already @#1. However, he didn't put it on the line this weekend. I'm a pack fan, but wouldn't have a problem with him dropping in rankings. Rankings are just someon's opinion anyway.
  12. What if both guys back up in order to set up their takedowns?
  13. Good choices. Marstellar seems like a great guy and a great story, but some stuff may scare off a risk averse (almost all) AD. Green is great with this group. Taylor seems to go back and forth. D1 coach was a goal of his, then I heard he was enjoying his club too much, now it seems like he's interested in the big time again.
  14. Statue of Maj. Dick Winters (Band of Brothers) in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, France.
  15. I love how thankful the French are for US efforts in WWI and WWII.
  16. That would have been a long time ago. It was in effect in the 80s and 90s, at least for D1.
  17. The number of people who think a takedown is worth 3 in high school wrestling is terrifying.
  18. Great pic! I think earlier in the war, the let you rotate out after 20 missions (as you mentioned). Later in the war, that turned into 30 missions because casualties were so high that they were (presumably) having personnel shortages (or could forsee them).
  19. Thanks goodness for men like your grandfather. 35 missions is a tall order! Listening to Rob Koll talk about his father in WWII is also very inspiring. I think Koll stated that the only trophies on display in his home are Bill Koll's medals.
