  1. I love calling pins! And pinfalls!
  2. Just some thoughts (as a ref/coach/fan/parent) and not directed specifically at WKN, but wrestling fans as a whole: There has always been reaction time, just not from rear standing. It disappeared for about a decade from rear standing, but existed everywhere else. Kind of crazy, that we went from 2023 complaining about zero reaction time (rear standing) to complaining about too much reaction time in 2024. I am not sure anything changed, other than the rear standing rule. However, when a ref blows a call, more people are going to see it than 20 years ago. Youtube, flo, Big 10, ESPN+, UFC Fight Pass, etc. As an official, I always try to let positions play out and am very verbal about control. I'd rather be a little late on a takedown than early. Coaches don't always like it, but I am pretty up front with them. (and I did see some bad calls regarding reaction time this year, but refs are probably no worse than they ever have been)
  3. I don't think he actually did it. Just stayed home and gamed. Sounds legal!
  4. What is the money situation like for the average fighter? PFL has a TON of money behind it.
  5. I know he did a little in the offseason, but it was never his sole focus. Supposedly did very little wrestling in the weeks leading up to his U20 world title, as he was focused on other sports. Also, wrestled in Fargo finals one year and left immediately after in order to make a state playoff baseball game. Fun fact; Dan Gable was his family's landlord when he was young, and used to train Ben in youth.
  6. Correct. A symbiotic relationship, like a tapeworm. A tapeworm that can stall great on top.
  7. Yaz IS known for his tank! (Except against Taylor.) Yaz has made a creer of absolutely melting guys. The Taylor matches are outliers.
  8. It seems a good strategy for him to cut down to 197. Perry could eat all of the food in the house and starve Carol down to weight.
  9. Some club coach lol He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.- Proverbs 3:34
  10. Will Carrol ever wrestled Stevenson?
  11. Some people are annoyed about the Carroll transfer thread!
  12. Something tells me that is what every match at Iranian nationals looks like, Two guys digging for underhooks. The guy who gets them wins the match.
  13. It had got to be tough to beat Yazdani when you have basically modeled your style after him.
  14. - He and Merrill create an almost untenable log jam -197 for four years probably seems awful - Attended 3 high schools and committed to three colleges - New coach; he liked the old one. Prob thinks it was a raw deal. In retrospect, the writing may have been on the wall. DT was probably about the most likely of all coaches to be able to fix things, but even that wasn't destined to work.
  15. Or beat them both and win it all I'm calling it ! True! But only needs to beat one. One way or another, he is going to need a win over one of them in all likelihood.
  16. Yeah I saw that. Not sexy at all Likely going to need to beat Saduleev/Taz loser to medal, or catch another forfeit.
  17. Will actually need some luck to medal. Check the seeds.
  18. You forgot to mention that he attended three different high schools!
  19. Hopefully he is even stronger than a 106 lb woman!
  20. Guys get better. even if they don't wrestle in State College. Crazy!
  21. I was concerned about that! Seriously though, did anyone see this match? Had a lead and power bombed Bonnacorsi in the 3rd. Match went into OT, where Trumble lost. 7:25 ish
  22. Yes. I think it is the weight, and the more he makes it the tougher he gets. He makes it 2-3 days in a row and it takes a lot out of him. My Wolfpack has also been underperforming as a team at the NCAA tournament. I don't think it is the overseeding stuff with saw with Mizzou in the MAC. There might be some of that but NC state has been placing below guys they have beaten during the regular season, so there might be peaking issues... perhaps weight related.
  23. I mean, he has beaten Nico Bonnacorsi and blew a match against Nico via power bomb the year Nico won it.
  24. And a career win over Lockett, I believe.
