  1. All that is true. I think he's also going to have a really difficult time understanding what is going on around him in the trenches. He likely thinks its going to be like playing Madden.
  2. When do scholarship limits disappear? Prob not yet determined? They are on the way out as of the latest court ruling.
  3. If he's near weight, it shouldn't have been a problem Never was for Spencer Lee. You literally said he wrestled 74 kg at trials. That is what you said and believed. Why would you say he wrestled at 86 kg? Wouldn't have made your point. sad
  4. Why are you so sensitive? Enjoy your titles, stop crying about perceived slights.
  5. Drake may be getting big for 125. He may be experimenting with 133. Iowa has known to have been bigweight cutters, at least historically. I haven't heard much about a lot of their guys having "tough cuts" for a bit now, but it is possible. But this isn't about them, it is about a surprising large number of PSU guys saying they have have had tough cuts. I just did not expect that.
  6. What universe to you live in? Holy crap!
  7. Who said they were an outlier? You were the first to use that term. Please go back and re-read. I thought guys were wrestling near their natural weight for a long time. DT for example. This is clearly not the case.
  8. I've heard DT and RBY say it with my own ears. DT on multiple occasions. Also Brooks and Starocci. You must not get out much.
  9. Keep in mind many (not all) of the PSU faithful are some of the thinnest skinned members of the forum. This level of success seems to have built some sensitivity. We are simply stating facts.
  10. It's not that they were dropping last year. They have a history of not being able to maintain their weights. And before you say "Cael is letting them grow; that is smart and fun, " keep in mind the repeated admissions and rumors about PSU guys having trouble making weight. - DT is on the record saying he was cutting a ton of weight in college and certainly had disordered eating. - 133 lb RBY admitted to having to lose 10+ lbs daily at NCAA tournaments after getting up to mid 140s each night. - 184 was very tough for Brooks and apparently 86 kg is brutal. I think 197 wasn't super easy for him. - Starocci never wants to go 174 again. Looked like a decent sized 86 kg and plans on 197. - Kasak couldn't make 154 over the weekend and apparently 149 was tougher as the season went on. - Davis had a tough cut to 125, allegedly. - For two years we have heard that 157 was a tough cut for Levi. Took him a bit to get into his groove this year. Supposedly going up a weight or two. I know that weight cutting happens everywhere. I just don't hear this much of this type of stuff outside of OSU. It seems like guys are going up in weight because the cut is miserable. Yes, it is a fantastic program and they are well-coached great wrestlers. Whatever they are doing works. I just wouldn't have associated the program with "tough cuts" until relatively recently.
  11. I will say this, although they apparently have a lot of "fun," information coming out of state college in recent years seems to indicate a fairly high level of weight cutting. Maybe not OSU level, but more than I would have thought a couple years ago. I'm not saying that it is good or bad, just that it is a thing.
  12. U20 world title before his senior year. That is pretty good. Just made another U20 team this weekend. If he "disappoints," it's probably because he splits time with football, not because of anything involving coaching and development. He will probably need to put on a little size, though.
  13. I think he was training freestyle on a semi regular basis with WWE. He won't be able to do that with NFL.
  14. I can see that for sure. and VERY depleted.
  15. Snyder had more international accolades at the age of 20 than Cael has at the age of 44.
  16. 11 sounds about right. Is this the Norm quote?: "I think the worst part of the Cosby thing was the hypocrisy." And I disagree. I thought it was the raping. It's my feeling most rapists are hypocrites. You don't meet many that go "I like raping and I know it's not politically correct but, by god" and people go "well, he's not being a hypocrite and that's the worst part!"
  17. I spent a couple weeks at the OTC around the time Cael made his debut. I had conversations with a prominent coach or two and the topic of bribery came up. The gist at the time was: "other countries do that... the US cannot and will not." I'm not saying it is impossible that Romero was bribed, but seemed unlikely a few years before. I generally saw Cubans taking dives in finals, too. Didn't they have a ridiculous finals losing streak at some point? Like 8 straight losses or something?
  18. Are you saying the US may have bribed Yoel Romero?
  19. Sanderson was never in the argument for "best in the world." The other two have been. Sanderson is an all-time American great, but no one out the the US would consider him much more than a one hit wonder. His NCAA and coaching accomplishments have inflated his international achievements. Similar stuff happened with Dan Gable.
  20. If I remember correctly, Gable wasn't even there. He relayed the instructions to Zalesky. This was covered in "A Season on the Mat," and my copy is in another state at the moment.
  21. I thought he was also trying not to torpedo Hand's confidence?
