  1. Weird that even the graduated athletes are all still under the spell
  2. No one defending him either though. I agree the radio silence both ways has been surprising
  3. I mean, I was skeptical before. But now, I think it’s fair to question it…
  4. It’s a USA Wrestling list. Pretty sure he was not on the SafeSport list. Just means that someone filed a complaint.
  5. He also doesn’t have to say anything at all until someone asks
  6. I mean, if they say nothing about the allegations, I don’t see how that would be considered an offensive question.
  7. So tagging onto the “where are the journalists” discussion from earlier… Has anyone even asked Cael, or Jake Varner (the top coach listed on the NLWC site) the simple question of “is Carter Starocci still part of the NLWC?”
  8. I see approximately 0.1% chance that any of the allegations that were published in the Collegian article ever see the inside of a court room. That doesn’t mean they definitely didn’t happen though. If we’re mostly just talking about him possibly being let go from NLWC, they are still free to do that.
  9. I was talking about NLWC, not PSU. But Cael isn’t listed on there either. Maybe he got fired!!
  10. Pretty sure he isn’t. Hard to tell since it looks like their site hasn’t been updated in like 4 years though
  11. Agreed. @Jon_Kozak probably had the most accurate but politically correct take: Vito wasn’t 100%, but he still thinks Jax had a chance to win gold
  12. Correct. Pay them to compete in the events that actually matter for the sport’s championship where they are representing their country, not random cards that will have no impact outside of that event.
  13. If the coach is only guaranteed to stay for 4 years, I’d go athlete(s). And if we’re assuming the $ figure is somewhere around $1 million per year, I’d rather spend it on like 5 AA type dudes with multiple years of eligibility. Looking at this year’s portal list (and not including guys like Welsh and Ryder that probably weren’t going anywhere else than where they are), something like: Ethan Stiles, Rafael Hipolito, Jore Volk, Dylan Fishback, Cody Chittum (we’re guaranteed they don’t leave, right?) (I guess Ohio State was employing this strategy)
  14. Pay them. The top international talent doesn’t enter rankings tournaments because all they care about is the Olympics. Give them a reason to care about the other events. Not sure what the weight class comment even means. He’s basically saying the current international system (with weight classes, obviously) is already similar, but we should make it more fan friendly. Putting more emphasis on the team aspect could be one way IMO. Hardly anyone watches events like Bill Farrell, even though there are usually tons of NCAA champs in it. Heck, not that many Americans even watch Worlds and Olympics (even just compared to like NCAA duals), I don’t see many more if any more people watching random cards. I wish that weren’t the case, but I’d be shocked if RAF comes close to breaking even (especially considering what they surely had to pay to get the names they did). They probably won’t be succesful either but I think Claw has put the most thought into their league so far. New rules trying to make it more exciting, and a team aspect even including a draft. I know you’re the brain so maybe you still have some tricks up your sleeve, but so far all RAF has done is pay the most money to get the biggest names, and announce that the first venue will be at a school that just cut wrestling.
  15. So in that scenario, who would be the entity paying the athletes? UWW?
  16. Wasn’t sure where to put this, but @nhs67 your boy Jawn Cena is dropping truth bombs
  17. I thought the theory was that that’s precisely why they may have had buyers remorse, if Bob think he isn’t going to have to pay guys that much moving forward. I’m kinda thinking the whole Deloitte thing is gonna get shot down by the courts anyway though
  18. That is the raid at a weed farm where they found illegal alien children. I was not aware of any MS-13 members. Nonetheless, I wasn’t really commenting on the topic of the tweet, moreso how crazy it is that the White House is just out there sh1tposting.
  19. My fault, just relistened and he did say they couldn’t be paid NIL. But then admitted he didn’t know when the date was that they could be paid. But then the other guy next to Cassar claimed he looked it up and said they couldn’t get paid until after they graduate HS.
  20. I don’t recall hearing about an MS-13 member, was there?
  21. He didn’t say it was illegal for high schoolers to get NIL, he was mostly just claiming that getting an apartment in the area (which in this case was supposedly paid for by a booster) doesn’t satisfy the 250 mile requirement. I know it’s been stated elsewhere that those outside of 250 miles can still train there periodically (so Blaze training at NLWC wasn’t automatically illegal), but not sure exactly how much.
  22. I wouldn’t be shocked if that was the case, but I’d be surprised. They likely overpaid for him since he might not be on the level of Forrest & Duke, but he’s still a dang good recruit and their recent classes have been a little thin. He also would have brought additional eyeballs
  23. Meh, guys from both Penn State and Iowa have been accused of doing those things (well maybe not the same person being accused of both) just in the past year!
  24. He got fairly specific in talking about donors buying an apartment, I’d imagine he has a decent source for that. So, can anyone confirm if getting an apartment satisfies the 250 mile requirement if your parents don’t change their residence? The requirements listed by USA wrestling are pretty short and vague: https://assets.contentstack.io/v3/assets/blteb7d012fc7ebef7f/blt06815c1d8208fb85/67c62f305108fbfbf835ff0c/Regional_Training_Center_Criteria.pdf
