  1. He’s project 157/165 but there is a thought that he could potentially make 149
  2. Could we see the Iowa wrestlers back in the lineup? How would the lineup shake out with the new transfers? 165: PK/Caliendo 174: PK/Caliendo 184: Brands 197: Assad HWT: Cassioppi
  3. Scary situation for the child and family. What a blessing to have a good outcome.
  4. Yes, yes, yes and yes.
  5. How about Varner? Has been learning under Cael for years. Has connections coast to coast being from California originally. Won multiple NCAA titles and an Olympic gold.
  6. Amen!
  7. One of my favorite ways to cook steak is to reverse sear. If you get your charcoal chimney ripping hot & put a grill grate on it you can get an awesome sear! I cook my steak in the grill or oven at 200 until the internal temp reaches 105 then I pull it and sear over the chimney flipping every 30 seconds.
  8. Yep, agreed that he can compete right away.
  9. You are perpetrating the documented immigrants to ALL immigrants. The documented immigrants that come here legally are certainly a great asset to society in most cases. The work, serve their communities and don’t commit a lot of crimes.
  10. The turds that cause problems would still come illegally. They are coming in record numbers. Poverty and crime are what turn beautiful, thriving areas into slums. A wall has been the first line of defense for a nation since biblical times. A nation without walls is not much of a nation whatsoever. Will people find ways around it? I'm sure. But they won't be flooding in in the record numbers we are seeing now. It's a problem that needs to be fixed before it is too late.
  11. It's Gable, Spencer Lee, Mark Hall and Meyer Shapiro.
  12. Ban, we are talking about Jr World Champs here. You saw the list that I provided above. There is a great chance that Shapiro will be an absolute stud. The median level guy in the list is someone like Bubba Jenkins or Mekhi Lewis. You have been provided with new info, it's time to adjust your expectations based on the new information that you have.
  13. There are 16 wrestlers listed that have won a Jr World title. 9 of them have won at least one NCAA title (Jenkins, Snyder, Lee, Hall, Steveson, Lewis, Carr, Parris, O’Toole), 2 more have AA’d (Fix and Elam), 3 have yet to compete collegiately (Shapiro, Kueter, Mesenbrink), 2 have competed and qualified for NCAA’s but not AA’d yet (Volk and Amos).
  14. you got a link?
  15. USA Jr Freestyle World champs since 2005 2007 - Bubba Jenkins 2013 - Kyle Snyder 2015 - Spencer Lee 2016 - Spencer Lee, Mark Hall 2017 - Daton Fix, Mark Hall, Gable Steveson 2018 - Mekhi Lewis 2019 - David Carr, Mason Parris 2021 - Kegan O-Toole, Rocky Elam, Braxton Amos 2022 - Jore Volk, Ben Kueter 2023 - Meyer Shapiro, Mitchell Mesenbrink From what I can see on Cadet & Jr world champs the list includes: Gable Steveson, Mark Hall & Meyer Shapiro
  16. Some guys just carry weight differently. Ryan Deakin comes to mind. Looked like he was a 174 pounder at 157 and then would wrestle 70kg (154lb) for freestyle.
  17. Sure, there are busts. But #1 overall recruits are typically a pretty safe bet to have future success.
  18. True that some guys don’t translate to the next level but a lot of that’s because they are so much more physically mature than some of their age level counterparts. Other times they lack mat skills or something just doesn’t click at the NCAA level. Meyer looked fast and strong at worlds but is not necessarily a “brute” like a Bouzakis type where he overpowered everyone he faced. Couple that with the fact that he wrestled some decent NCAA guys last year in open tournaments and beat them all rather easily and I think we have a title contender on our hands. Cornell also does a great job getting super elite guys ready to go right away (Yianni, Dake, Vito, etc.).
  19. It is based on his freestyle dominance. First of all, he won a U20 world title and was very dominant doing so. He destroyed everyone domestically and the group of guys that were competing at the weight includes: Daniel Cardenas, Paniro Johnson, Jackson Arrington, etc. I agree with the flo crew that he absolutely can win a title this year and is a tier 1 guy right out of the gate. 157 has a lot of depth but does not have that guy at the top that seems insurmountable like Brooks, Starrocci, Vito, etc.
  20. Re-read what I wrote. The wrestlers knew the rules and were held accountable for their actions. The punishment is harsh but they all knew that gambling was a no-no and are dealing with the consequences now. I have no problem with it. I just don't think the blame falls on the head coaches nearly as much as you do. I think they need to re-evaluate things and do better moving forward. This online gambling is a newer phenomenon and sports gambling was not legal in Iowa until recently. Do you also think that Kevin Dresser, Kirk Ferentz and Matt Campbell should be fired?
  21. I've read what you have written throughout. It's the administrations fault. Failure to properly repair the building or provide the necessary information to the people that use the building falls on the administration alone. Yes, I know the administration has changed somewhat recently so its both their faults.
  22. I’m not saying that T&T shouldn’t re-examine the Iowa program and set the terms for what is acceptable. The hairs that are split between NW football and Iowa gambling are not tiny. These kids bet on sports using their personably cell phones. They are being held accountable for their actions. Should a coach be held entirely responsible when an is caught drinking underage or gets a DUI??
  23. Not sure how you are equating OKSt coaches knowingly breaking the rules with the Iowa wrestlers betting online. One involves the coaches and wrestlers, the other involves the wrestlers. Not exactly apples to apples.
  24. Pitzer did beat Shultz last year and has put on 20 pounds. Gavin does a good job developing his guys.
