That level of parity has never really existed in wrestling. In past 36 years only 5 teams have won team titles. One of those 5, Ohio State, won only a single title. The championship team failed to repeat only 4 times (OSU 1994, Minnesota 2007, Ohio State 2015, and Iowa 2021) during that period. It could have been even fewer if not for probation for things that are no longer against the rules (OSU), eligibility loss due to transfer which is no longer a thing (2007), and COVID (2021). Whilst a certain level of parity is both necessary and desirable, parity can also produce less compelling storylines. The year with perhaps the most parity, when the traditional power house programs were down, was 2015. The title was up for grabs with traditional powers PSU, OSU, and Minnesota outside the top 5 and Edinboro was as much a title contender as Iowa. It was cool, but was it as compelling as 2018 when two all time great teams battled it out for the title?2 points

I would argue that Cassioppi got better during that period, but Kerkvliet got a lot better. He's not worth responding to but while we're here, the premise is flawed because there are two moving targets and he is asserting a conclusion based on generating controversy1 point

A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit against FloSports, Inc. Plaintiffs Lucas Young, Daniel O’Malley, and Charles Buckingham (collectively, the “Class Representatives”) allege that they were enrolled in automatically renewing subscriptions for FloSports’ content without adequate disclosures and notice regarding renewal charges and cancellation terms. FloSports claims its subscription renewal practices complied with all applicable laws and regulations and that it fairly disclosed all terms associated with its subscriptions. Thus, FloSports denies all allegations of wrongdoing, and the Court has not determined who is right. Rather, the Parties have agreed to settle the lawsuit to avoid the uncertainties and expenses associated with ongoing litigation.1 point

Knowing what we know about the paragons of amatuer athletics, The Olympics, combined with man's basic greed for power and money, it probably was inevitable. But that is easy to say when you know the result, and impossible to prove.1 point

Dang. I've been a frog in boiling water about this. There have only been 7 D1 team champions over the last 50 years, and it's not even close outside of Iowa and PSU: Okie State won 7, Minny 3, ISU 2, ASU & tOSU 1 apiece. I guess we focus so much on individual titles that there's an illusion of parity that isn't really there.1 point

I don't think that most people from Waynesburg, PA could find Hofstra on a map. No knock on Hofstra (or Waynesburg for that matter), it is just geography.1 point

I will bite. RBY isn't a Migrant Worker. He was born in the US and gained dual citizenship, which USA as his first. Having dual citizenship allows someone to not only flow freely between both countries, but to also take advantage of being full citizens of both countries. You are being blatantly xenophobic and trying to stir the pot. Luckily there isn't anyone here as pathetic as you to actually agree with your mentality.1 point

Fujinami is at 53kg. There's no way(unless there's an injury) the JWF is going to replace Sakurai at 57kg, especially since she's the 2x defending senior WC. She lost at the Asian championships, but since the weight was already qualified at last year's senior WC, that particular tournament was the last international tournament for Japan's WFS team for members that are on the Olympic team. So basically, practice to get more feel again against foreign wrestlers. Now, the entire thing would be very, very different if Sakurai hadn't placed at the senior WC last year and she didn't make weight like Rei Higuchi did at the Tokyo Olympics Asian Qualifier. If you remember, the JWF replaced Rei Higuchi with Yuki Takahashi after that whole fiasco.1 point

Based on your previous statement "Maybe the PSU donors don't provide money in pesos? Perhaps he should try selling Chiclets in Tijuana." you are not only concerned about the color of singlets!!!!1 point

After the fall of the Soviet Union, where it felt we were in an existential battle for survival, cheering for only for USA athletes just is not the same for me. I love to see US guys win, but I don't feel like less of a patriot if I cheer for Austin Gomez over Zane.1 point

The entire tone of your responses was different up until this one. If this is truly how you feel, then I am with you. As I said in my responses, I would also root for RWB first. That said, deciding to withhold and, more importantly, advocating for people to not offer potential support to a person who is a dual citizen (in this case it means both Mexico and the United States) is shitty and petty - best case. He is still a citizen of the United States as well as Mexico. Your initial response to me was "Not anymore. Bye Felicia" so the name calling started with you.1 point

You clearly and obviously have no clue as to the origins of the dual nationality laws and their reasoning(s) as to why they were put in to effect. I am sure you're Shawnee or Deleware, though, right? Proper North American? I assume not. You're probably one of those Turdbiscuits that were yelling "CAREER IS OVER" to JB. Furthermore, it is easy to see, search, and find that myself (along with many others such as Scourge) also root and advocate for our US representatives first - then the gents with US ties. Were Lee and RBY to meet in Paris, I am rooting for Lee 10/10 times, regardless of how much of an ignoramus you care to be. I will then root for RBY over everyone else (aside for maybe Cruz, who I will root for both equally). The same for 86 KG. I am rooting for Brooks over everyone, including Amine - despite both of us being alumni of the University of Michigan. I might then root for Amine over Ramos, though - sue me. Hell, after Dhesi and Smith at 125 KG, I will probably root for Abdelmottaleb over the other gents simply because Hemida has been attempting to wrestle for them for the last ~decade. Quit being a bitter xenophobe. This is a suggestion, not a requirement.1 point

I'm not rooting against any of the guys representing the USA. That stated it wouldn't break my heart if Brooks lost to a Muslim in the gold medal match. I guess that would mean the Muslim is better with GAWWWWWD, huh?-1 points
