  1. 30-35 years ago I was at the Wilkes Open just watching. Haselrig was there looking at the brackets on the wall. He looked at me(might have recognized me from ncaas) and asked me "how do the consolations work?" I told him, first you have to lose!

  3. My wife asked me just now if I wanted some popcorn. I replied that I don't think it goes with my overly generous pour of Macallan 12.

  6. I love Shane Sparks. I know he's is not everyone's cup of tea but the guy genuinely loves wrestling and it shows when he's working. I cannot criticize a guy with as much passion as Shane has. He is my favorite wrestling commentator.

  11. Ok this is probably a dumb question from someone who used to be a hardcore fan but hasn't paid attention in years. How is Fix still wrestling? I know 2020 was a COVID year but he was already redshirting

  13. The way Vito has turned it on these past two days, he'll beat the brakes off of Fix. D3

  24. Because you used an absolute ('never') I fear you have jinxed yourself. We all have no choice but to pick up the slack. I am breaking the liquor cabinet open and drinking 11 half gallons for you before I even break in to mine. In other news, I have fourteen 3lb new york strips and a 50lb bag of idaho potatoes already cooked up. Thirteen tubs of sour cream, eight whole onions, and two full hogs-worth of bacon. L!F!G!

  25. Just want to give a few shout outs while I wait for quarters to begin. First and foremost to my old friend Shane Sparks. Love you Brother, love the passion and love the commitment to this sport! Also, I want to thank ESPN. My coverage has been incredible. I do the matcast with Shane on TV and have individual mats up on the computer for matches of exceptional interest. Have not made the trip to NCAA's in awhile and am very thankful to the ones responsible for bringing it to me. Thank you!

  29. Obviously, Starocci v Lewis has the most star power, but I’m guessing it’s going to be mainly a defensive battle. A few I think will be great matches are Hamiti v Carr, Haines v Robb, Andonian v Scott, Arrington v Gomez, Mendez v Hardy, and Noto v Ramos.

  30. In my view, David Taylor offers the best technical insights about positions, technique, and strategy. And he is able to keep to the action and also make relevant asides. He's a true professional. And, of course, I realize he is now in the final stages of trials preparation so he probably won't be there. Borroughs will probably be fine in his commentary.

  31. As important as Starocci/Lewis is, I think it has high potential to be boring. The hot quarterfinal is Carr/Hamiti

  32. I saw that punk acting the heel after beating Doucet earlier this year. He's a fat slob, a mediocre wrestler, and a punk. I don't think he's making OU or Kish look all that great with his infantile behavior.

  34. I would love to see a new rule next year: A three second count when wrestling from a knee or both knees and then a stalling call. Wrestling from the knees is itself essentially stalling. Rarely is it ever justified. It is extremely difficult to take someone down when they are wrestling from their knees.

  35. ESPN coverage is pretty poor in my estimation: 1. WAY, WAY too many commercials (in the middle of matches or as matches are ready to commence) 2. They cut away from interesting matches or don't show key sequences because they are focused on fan and coach reactions or interviews 3. Too little insightful analysis about the matches (they substitute emotional responses) 4. Too much talking about other unrelated topics 5. They need to find someone like David Taylor to provide technical insight. Grade D
