  1. it really is wild how good these high schoolers are...i'm waiting for a high schooler to beat an ncaa champion and lose to a middle schooler the next weekend.

  3. That is pragmatic... but life need not be a rat race. With my kids in school, I'd gladly work 20 years later for 10 years off now! Pursue what brings joy for at least those four years. Later, open a Purler academy and create wealth. Or go down the traditional career path, double your intended savings, and leverage that compounding interest over time. You will never get that four years of prime health back but you have plenty of years for career toil. Your wealth is your health and your relationships. Invest wisely.

  8. 1. Plan is for Rocky to go 2. Wouldn't say Moore has won the spot, but expecting him to go. Seltzer has had weight cut struggles so far but I do think he has a high ceiling. 3. Maybe? I don't think locals do lol. 4. I don't think so. I've been high on Surtin since he came into the lineup and think he has a high ceiling. He was banged up last year, but talking to him again this year I think he looks like he's jumped levels. He's great from top, has big moves from neutral, but really improved on his neutral scrambling and leg attacks this year.

  9. Their workers are passionate about the sport, but flo is a business. I have nothing bad to say about them, but have heard a lot of the gripe. They are the only ones continually streaming everything, they have no competition so no need to elevate their game.

  10. It 100% is on the Flo broadcast side. This isn’t the first time they’ve done it. They (poorly) ram adds in everywhere they find dead space or captive eyeballs they can manipulate. They have no respect for the sports they broadcast. It’s like they’re trying to recreate the early ESPN days where they would just play adds instead of the first two periods of a match, and then show the back half of the third period, bringing back in the broadcast “well it’s been a fascinating match, and it looks like the #2 wrestler is about to pull the upset with only 20 seconds left and a 7 point lead.” Flo WAS a passion project once. Now they are just passionately duplicitous and unaccountable.

  11. people are wrestling harder because of the 3 point takedown, i thought artificially inflating point totals was meaningless but its putting bonus points in reach when before a smart wrestler would probably be cruising.

  14. My pick is Lowell Lange, who won three NCAA titles for tiny Cornell College in Iowa. As a high school senior at West Waterloo (Iowa), he won the AAU national freesstyle title in 1946, at 135 pounds. In 1947, he won the 136-pound NCAA title as a pure freshman. He missed the 1948 season with injuries from a car accident but won his second title in 1949 by defeating the 1948 NCAA champion in the finals. According to Lange's biography at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, "he swept through the 1949 collegiate tournament without surrending a single point, perhaps the only wrestler to do since scoring rules were adopted." His overall record, including three freestyle national titles, was 160-1. My second choice is Dan Hodge and my third pick is Gray Simons. -- Mike Chapman, creator of WIN and the Dan Hodge Trophy.

  19. I just have to point out that at this moment the top headline on Flo is "Conner Mirasola quaifies for the olympics". you can call it a nitpick but as long as pyles is smugly proclaiming that they are the authority in wrestling media our content is gonna suffer.

  30. For as much depth as exists at 125 this tourney felt very shallow. Great for GTG and today's squad, but if Cassioppi decided last minute to bump up would anyone have beaten him? What if the Elam boys showed up? Dom probably owns them from familiarity I guess? Wish Davison would have shown up and qualified because he has a beautiful international style. All the big guns have already qualified and only Kerk no-showed from the A group. From the last quad, Nelson has retired. Last Chance will be very myeh unless Warner bumps up (dumb imo) or Hendrickson recovers and takes out Kerk at NCAAs. Honestly, if Varner gave it a go he would be my pick unless someone comes out of the woodwork like Keuter, Feldman, Davison, etc.

  31. Sasso defeated Stemmet for the second time this month. Last time was a fall, and this time a bit closer - an 8-4 decision for the younger brother of Sammy. Hunter Catka then takes a decision over Peter Ming (younger brother of Yao) by the same score 8-4. Final score 29-7 in favor of the Hokies

  35. This is as good as I've seen Connor Brady wrestle. Two good takedowns so far against Hunter Garvin. 6-2 is a much more logical score in this situation than 4-2. Three point takedown helps the better wrestler achieve a more appropriate score
