If he could make the cut, why not stay at Nebraska? Cutting 25 lbs with Barr there and Heavy clearing out does not make sense.

Maybe Nebraska just doesn't want him? Can't imagine there are a ton of suitors but somebody will bite.

These were my portal predictions a day ago, 1/1 so far ✅

My bet is Provo to Michigan

I'm willing to bet my remaining DOGE coin balance that Hunter Garvin doesn't transfer to Iowa

For a guy who is from Iowa City - does he not like the Hawkeyes for some reason?

Yeah, that's the tea. And apparently his club coach isn't a fan of Brands

gotcha-  that part explains it.  I guess this is a very small example of what Wisconsin deals with on a larger scale

My guess is that McDanel was not willing to RS and Nebraska didn’t want to sit Ziola and burn a year.

Of all the Stanford guys, Provo is probably the highest floor and ceiling. Was in every single match even the ones he lost to LL and Ventresca. And then he actually wiped the back of the bracket on the way to 3rd. He is an upgrade for every program except PSU, OSU, VT.

Did he level up or was he just healthier this season ?

Because they didn't want him

Random prediction:
AJ and Anthony attempt to transfer back to Iowa.  If they are rejected, then Angelo enters the portal and they go somewhere together for this year as they had originally hoped.

I pity the teammates and coaches that have to deal with all three of them on the same team

Maybe Wisconsin?  Bono's last stand?

Kade Brown has announced on his IG that he has committed to the Buckeyes…our first addition of the transfer portal. Now joining his incoming freshman brother in Columbus.

I assume he’d have to go 141 for a chance to start?

My first thought.  It's not a great fit.  They have Stiles, Shaw, Deselle, and Cannon at 149/157.  Also, they are overloaded with talent in the lower weights with Kilkeary, Bouzakis, Davino, Mills, and Munaretto.  I figured one of those guys would move up to 141.

Add one more factor....money.   The AJ addition was very late and I'm sure Nebraska had to scrape up some extra dough to get him.  It was a prudent move for one year, but the reality is that every team has to live within their own budget.  If Ziola is ready to go, you no longer need the free agent.  Nebraska just lost their only top 20 recruit since 2021.  They have some holes to fill.  Their money is better spent elsewhere.

So IF ol’ fast twitchy can convince the NCAA to give him another year after a RS, Oly RS (is there not a requirement that you have to wrestle at the Open to get one of these?) and injury year (after wrestling 10 matches), he’ll try for a 4th NCAA medal at his 4th different school.

Has that ever happened before? 4x AA at 4 different D1 schools? There’s not a loyal bone in that guys body.

Maybe Fishback and the fellas can get him into an actual Bible study and put in the work. Ohio State has the kids and coach that would help straighten him out…

I don’t think he’s making 141. Shooting to take that spot from Shaw…which is doable. Stiles is 157, Cannon will be 165, Birden has indicated he wants to stay at 165 but we’ll see. Shaw would be his only real competition right now at 149.

It has never happened before. 3 with him and Buchanan is the record. I added a LB to list them. No one has even appeared at the National Tournament for 4 different teams yet.

Brian Swaw says Daniel Zepeda to Michigan and Bennett Tabor to NC State

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would absolutely take Zepeda, but I don't think that makes a ton of sense for Michigan or Zepeda with their log jam at these middle weights. Prefer the method of "take everyone, figure out your lineup later" regardless, but this is a bit of a head scratcher for me, personally.

Mendoza, Wolbert, Lemley, Botero, Hilton, Sement, Wilson, Cosby, Catrabone...all names than populate that 133-157 weight range. Adding Zepeda strengthens this, but concerns me over guys like Sement and Wolbert, etc. Depending on weight gains and cuts, this is likely to push a guy or two to the portal, if true

This is most likely the answer. Ziola is up and coming. McDanel might not want to redshirt and who knows who they have coming in

This is true. However the fund raising for wrestling in nebraska is growing alot. They have been giving nil to all guys that all American so theres a chunk.  Id imagine they bring in a 184 pounder. Or maybe Joey Blaze to 174 and minto 184? Then maybe a lower weight guy
