This coming sunday. Blaze has not allowed a takedown this year and has held every opponent he faced since NOVEMBER 15th to 3 points or less. I don't know for sure but looking at his record I believe he has only allowed escapes all year. He is wrestling great and has gone under the radar. Do people think he can beat Caliendo? Blaze outplaced him significantly at WTT this summer? I don't think picking him would be crazy.

He completely neutered Scoles. I think if he can weather the first 30 seconds and keep it tight the final 20 then Blaze will firmly put himself up to #2. He's the real deal and every program has to be smacking themselves for letting him go to Purdon't

Here is the common opponents comparison of the two.  Info on Blaze above.  Caliendo below.  Blaze tends to wrestle guys a bit closer (tighter matches) and has had problems scoring on Antrell Taylor in the past.  But it should be a good scrap between MC and JB ... if it happens and one of the coaches doesn't hold a wrestler out

Why are you hating on Purdue?  Purdue has recently put a couple guys in the NCAA finals(Ramos,Blaze), proving you can be successful there.  Purdue has a lot better program then a lot of other D1 schools.

Seems to me like he was knocking the rest of DI/B1G schools for not getting him. Don't let the "Purdon't" comment shade you...

Blaze has a win over Caliendo in freestyle and it wasn't particularly close

I think you're misremembering.  Ed Scott absolutely destroyed him.

The other part of the Open and WTT that sticks out is that the 157lbers pretty much beat up the 165lbers in most H2Hs.

I think he will, twice. And be the #3 seed at NCAA’s and lose to MM in the finals.

I feel like Blaze has been slept on all year. Maybe bc his brother gets all the spotlight now . MM, Caliendo and Lockett are the only ones I’ve see mentioned over and over again as finalists and I think Blaze can beat Caliendo and I’ve seen nothing from Lockett that says he’s better then Blaze. I don’t see him slowing down MM but who knows maybe Marcus is feeding him intel on the side.

Nhs69 had it right. I am off my rocker and misremembering

I legitimately kicked myself in the nuts thinking the same thing a few weeks ago, man with Locket and Sealey.

I was misremembering Jayden James absolutely destroying Sealey.

We (Illinois grads) commonly refer to Purdue as Purdon’t. I do it all the time and I haven’t set foot in C-U in nearly 20 years.

You are an Illinois grad but a Penn St fan?

I mean my fandom doesn't make logical sense either so no judgement but I'm curious how that happened

Beating Caliendo doesn’t say that he could be better than Blaze?

No. Lockett looked good at national duals but since then I watched him eek out wins against Shawn Taylor, go to OT with Araujo, eek out a win over Conway from Missouri, then need a late takedown and backs to beat Ryder Downey. He spends most the match on his knees or backing up and that strategy isn’t going to work come ncaas

I’m not ready to pop the champagne or predict a championship run bc he beat Matt Bianchi

But did he look better?  He is a true fr.

Report card:

Lockett=   Defense 94% (A)   Offense 76% (C+)

Caliendo= Defense 94% (A)   Offense 88% (B+)

Blaze=   Defense 92% (A)  Offense 92% (A)

MM= Defense ? (TBD cuz i havent seen much of it, lol)  Offense 100% (A+)

I think Caliendo has a better game plan for Lockett the 2nd time around in just a few days from now and wins, I can also see Blaze beating Caliendo in their 1st match but Caliendo winning the second match IF they wrestle twice.....I can see Blaze winning vs Lockett many times........

Blaze also eeked out wins against Shawn Taylor and James Conway. Against Ryder Downey... he lost. Blaze couldn't take him down (or get backs for that matter).

Also, Downey majored Scoles. Blaze couldn't take Scoles down.

In their last matches:

Lockett: 2 TD - #5 Bianchi: 0 TD

Blaze: 0 TD - #8 Scoles: 0 TD
