Even though I’m not a PSU fan, I do not hope Cael loses his job (unless he truly deserves it). I’m hoping that he didn’t know much and can continue coaching. I do hope that it removes the idea that he “walks on water”. I’m from PA, so it seems everyone else here believes he can do no wrong. He does coach a lot of good character traits and mindset principles, BUT he is a win at all costs guy just as much as Brands (and about every other D1 coach). He will take whoever he thinks can get him a national title and he puts his team’s success above what it best for the sport (can’t blame him). I just hope it takes a bit of the aura off and maybe levels the recruiting field a bit.

the last week makes it obvious brands is way less "win at all costs" than cael.

I thought @mspart might have been asking if DT would end up going back to PSU to run the program if Cael had to step down?

At the very least, it would be nice to see Cael appear to be a little more hands-on and actively involved with running his program. From the outside looking in, he's very much a chill bro, like ahh, go with the flow, don't worry about things, what happens happens, have fun. He runs the program like a wrestling lab where he trusts his guys to train hard and motivate themselves in all aspects of wrestling and college life.

My impression is that PSU guys love wrestling for Cael is because it's like learning technique from an Einstein of wrestling (and then practicing with a room full of mini-Einsteins) and because he lets them do pretty much what they want. But he doesn't really seem to care much about anything outside of the X's & O's of actual wrestling. Maybe he leaves rules, compliance, academics, and all the off-mat stuff up to Casey or the other coaches, idk. This might be where religion comes in too, like he believes everyone will be okay and things will take care of themselves if his wrestlers live by the bible or something.

It's an interesting philosophy, but it can also come off as passive or even lazy, especially when stuff like this happens. It's far easier to imagine Cael stepping back and not paying attention, rather than actually intervening and getting on someone's case for breaking rules or worse. Like I can't even imagine Cael chewing someone out even over something this serious.

I want accountability in Happy Valley. That program has turned itself into a “religious mecca.” They constantly play the “I worked so hard and Jesus is rewarding my efforts with this victory” card after big matches. When you continually jam that down outsiders throats, while the inside is rife with doping, assault, abuse, etc.; then you better be ready to pay the piper when time comes. It appears Penn state is not there yet as Aaron Brooks is already posting Bible verses and how he got something from the grocery store.  Will be interesting to watch and see the next few weeks.

Brooks comes off as the kind of guy that you could have an authentic video of Cael injecting a syringe in his ass and he’d release a statement that God came to him in a dream and told him to inject goose urine, but he didn’t know goose urine has PEDs in it. Or something along those lines…

I’m just here to take PEDs and insult Muslims…. And I’m all out of groceries….. cause I took them.

Regardless of what happens legally or in relation to Cael's status as head coach, I think all of this news really shifts the view of what it means to commit and attend PSU as a wrestler. I don't have children, but if I had a blue-chip son, this would be a deal-breaker for me. As mentioned above, we now have the Snyder sting, Aaron Brooks failing a drug test, and most shockingly the allegations surrounding one of their stars that somehow stuck around for 6 years without any word of incident. It's horrible if the coaches were privy to any of the allegations and didn't do anything, and it's still very concerning if all of these things are taking place and the coaches have such little awareness of what is taking place in their own practice facility.

Before recently, PSU was a place believed to develop you into the best wrestler you can be, and they were also very grounded in their morals, faith, and dedication to the "wrestling lifestyle." The latter certainly will be in question moving forward, and I would think many parents will have some hesitation moving forward with a program that has been staying in the news for all of the wrong reasons.

Hey Chrome,  I like this post of yours.   It makes sense to me.   Well said.

Regarding my DT comment, I was wondering if he would be getting caught up in all that Starocci stuff, not knowing they didn't like each other.   If DT knew about all these shenanigans (if they are true) and kept quiet, then you have to wonder what he will do at OSU.  That was my thought anyway.  I was thinking there could be  direct link made.   I know it is different for athletes and coaches, but he was an athlete that went straight to head coach.   So I wondered.

Save me the “oh I just want justice for the victims” for a moment. What do you actually want to happen to the Penn State wrestling program?

Coaches fired? Recruits recommitted? Roster pillaged? Championships rescinded?

If there's any evidence that the staff knew about it, I want them to be ineligible from the post-season for at least 1 year and I want all wins as a team vacated and... I don't know if you can vacate Starocci's Indvidual title, but IF it's true, he should go to jail. I just read about it.

The "Grooming," I think that's tossed around way too easily. 23, 18...

But rape is rape. If Starocci raped a girl, there are others and there's ANY evidence the staff knew, that's what I want done.

And maybe PART of that is because I do respect PSU, because Cael is Cael and because they represent the Wrestling community so much, but...this is a BIG deal, especially if more victims come forward.

There is no indication the staff DID know(beyond the theft and they couldn't prove that)...but if there anything there, that's what I want.
