I gave him a B for well thought out BS, didn't say believable just a BS story that's plausible.  Again not related unless you think Casey left the unmarked bottle of over the counter meds in the sauna.

But the only reason you’re saying the situations are “different” is because of the nature of their explanations: Brooks is admitting to taking the substance, but not knowing it was banned.  Fix claimed he didn’t know he was taking anything.

If we can agree that neither explanation is likely true, then the situations are in fact similar.

I spent one week at the Olympic Training Center over 25 years ago.  It was made very very clear to me in that one week that athletes are not to put ANYTHING in their body without making sure that it didn't have a banned substance.  I also spent a weekend with the staff of PSU many years ago.  PSU athletic department said the same thing.

He has heard this more times than Nelson Brands heard "don't gamble on college sports."   It isn't a secret in his world whatsoever.  If this was an honest mistake caused by an OTC medicine, he is one of the dumbest people out there.  It would also be his second bout of stupidity regarding USADA regulations.  He deserves whatever is coming to him.

Hell, I pay close attention to any over the counter pills/meds that I take. You'd think he'd have a source he could send a picture to just to make sure he was in the clear before putting a new drug into his body. There are very few athletes in history that have "knowingly" taken PEDs.

Amen. You'd think he would have learned after his first scare. He is either 1. dumb, 2. a cheat, 3. both. Give me option 3.

Chael Sonnen may be the only athlete to admit to doping.  And he has embraced it.

Are you saying that is what he claimed he took? If so, he's a bigger idiot than I could have thought. It's literally a hormone and weight control pill. Might wanna have doc take a look at that before you take it.

It's more likely that he is blaming this for whatever he was actually on.

I guess.  I dunno what I’m saying. It’s implied here and in some tweets that’s what he took and he didn’t know.    So?   Am I wrong.  I dunno.

I wasn't being facetious. I hadn't checked the other thread about AB on international to see this was the most recent rumor. I was genuinely curious. He would truly be an idiot if he took a medication that alters hormones without checking with a doctor first. @bnwtwg said it more assuredly than I didn't previously. But my initial assumption was that if he is claiming this OTC drug is what he popped for, it was a masking agent for whatever he was really doing.

Ya.   That’s why I made the joke Leslie knope called and wants psu to revoke his parks and req degree ha.

If he did take DHEA, he is a complete idiot.  How can he not know that it is banned?  That is just reckless.

I just explained the situation to Chat GPT and asked it to formulate an excuse for a press release (I didn't mention Brooks by name, but said he was religious):

To my supporters, teammates, and the sporting community,

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that a recent USADA test found a banned substance in my system. I want to be completely transparent about the circumstances that led to this.

Earlier this year, I underwent a minor orthopedic procedure and was hospitalized with pneumonia. During my recovery, I turned to various over-the-counter supplements to support my healing process — all of which I purchased legally and in good faith from a local grocery store. Unfortunately, one of those supplements contained a substance prohibited by Olympic standards, though it is legally sold and available to the general public.

I take full responsibility for what has happened. I did not check thoroughly enough with my medical and nutrition team, and for that, I am deeply sorry. I would never knowingly or intentionally compromise the integrity of sport or disrespect the values I hold dear.

As a devout Christian, I turn to scripture during this difficult moment:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” — James 1:2-3
This is a test I did not expect, but I accept it with humility and faith. I will cooperate fully with USADA and any governing bodies to resolve this matter justly.

To the young athletes who look up to me: let this be a reminder to remain vigilant. Always read every label, and seek wisdom in every choice, even the ones that seem minor.

I am committed to clearing my name through the proper channels and, more importantly, continuing to live and compete with integrity, passion, and purpose.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support.

I would follow that line.  He did exactly what @Interviewed_at_Weehawken did and then changed a few small details to cover his tracks.    Maybe he’s bad at cheating lol.  It’s not like he had to do anything hard in college to get his degree.  I can’t imagine they’re writing term papers for that major.

The past few weeks have been difficult for our program, and we recognize that. There have been serious situations involving a few of our athletes and coaches, and many of these matters are still in the process of being addressed. We have a deep respect for the legal and administrative procedures in place, and we are committed to allowing those processes to unfold as they should.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to everyone—our athletes, coaches, staff, and the Penn State community. It’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture during challenging times, but I am constantly reminded of the incredible people we have within this program. Our wrestling family is made up of individuals who care deeply about the sport and each other, and we will continue to support and hold one another accountable.

I also want to emphasize how much we value the opportunity to coach and teach young people. Wrestling is a sport that can shape lives. It challenges us physically and mentally, but it also has the power to bring out the best in us when we approach it with respect, discipline, and a sense of fun. This is what we aim for every day.

The work of building a strong culture—one that reflects these values—continues. We are grateful for the trust placed in us by our athletes and their families, and we are fully committed to moving forward in a way that honors that trust.

**Penn State Wrestling Press Release**
*From the Desk of Coach Cael Sanderson*
*June 30, 2025*

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Mat,

It’s been a wild few weeks here at Penn State Wrestling, where the headlines have been grappling with us harder than a 285-pounder in overtime. To address the recent noise, I’m keeping it short and sweet, like a perfectly executed single-leg takedown.

Yes, we’ve had some off-the-mat drama, but rest assured, our focus remains pinning opponents, not rumors. Our team is tougher than a two-hour practice in a sauna, and we’re ready to flip this narrative faster than a freshman at their first NCAA Championships. We’re addressing concerns with the same intensity we bring to Rec Hall, and we’ll come out stronger—because that’s what Nittany Lions do.

So, let’s get back to what we do best: winning titles and making opponents wish they’d chosen chess instead. Onward and upward, folks—see you at the top of the podium!

Yours in Wrestling,
Cael Sanderson

Well done Carl!

Bit surprised he didn't directly thank Wkn for keeping the data & charts about it out of the forums and Porta for refraining from singing a song about it but ... well done!

Another (minor) issue regarding PSU wrestling: they have a functioning sauna?  Supposed to be off-limits from Day 1 of classes until after the NCAA tournament.  Although, it seems Carter  may have brought the high school girl to the sauna during the off-season.  (allegedly) Does PSU also have a corresponding sauna for female members of the community that are not being creeped on by wrestlers?  If not, that is 100% a Title IX violation.
