Oh, one caveat, if Ono gets thrown out of a Frat party for being drunk and disorderly all bets are off.

You do realize how stupid this bet is, right?

I mean... I've said I think Penn State may have added the BEST Wrestler in the World as of right now(a bit hyperbolic, but not much). I'm not down on Ono...but you ALMOST certainly lose. He gives up a RT this year, I win(and not if he doesn't go down). He doesn't, you win.

You're basically betting that he's not going to get ridden once.

So, hypothetically, he can win a match 9-4(Crookham for example) and give up a RT once, you lose, I win.

We can just make this a fun little wager. I'm not all that eager because...I'm also kinda rooting for the kid, this just seems pretty obvious to me.

But if a sorority party the bet is still on?

Yes I am aware if he's winning he can elect to sit it out on the bottom and I would lose if he gives up the point.

Ok you have a great to chance to win and I have a little chance to win.  It seams it's just a bold prediction on my part, placing him at that high a level, but I will go with  a fun little wager. Bragging rights?   You're way ahead already. hahaha!

Actually I hope you guys are right and A US citizen is the national champ

The bet would be:   No wrestler earns a RT point on him this coming season.   I win (no stipulations)

If you would clarify the debt I would incur to confirm please.

To the first bolded part, that's not been my argument. I've NEVER said I thought he'd lose. I responded to a post as to who could stop them from winning NINE National Championships...a ridiculous number. Not that I didn't think he could or would win.

To your new proposal, LOL...no! Because I said he has to take down! The point of contention was you arguing the only reason guys get ridden is a physical maturity issue. Mine is that it's... just so much more than that. A physical maturity issue, a lot of feel. You think he's going to be hitting a standing gramby and kicking out vs a tough rider? Maybe you do, I don't.

If he goes the year and doesn't take down or takes down in the Black Knight Invitational...sure, he could get out.

But if he wrestles it like Bastida(for example) did and he's losing 1-0 matches because he doesn't take down or more likely, winning 9-3 matches because he's giving up 3 TDs and then 3 escapes...it wouldn't really apply to the entire disagreement...right?

That's why nhs was saying I should be giving you odds. So if I don't think he'll go down...and I think he might be the best Wrestler in the World...why would I want to bet on RT under THOSE circumstances?

Edit-And in fact...I already addressed both of these;

Quote

Sure...and I would bet on Ono, but people are acting like he doesn't have an absolute stud in his weight.

Crookham beat Vito soundly twice. Vito is a World Champ.

And...when you asked if I wanted to bet;

  On 5/22/2025 at 7:46 AM, Gene Mills Fan said:

I would put a small amount money down that he does not give up a riding point all year if you would like to wager. Maybe a Nagau or McCrone type but I'll risk it, and go with his power and quickness.

And my response;

Quote

....no. Because I don't think he'll TAKE the bottom position. If you want to account for that, then absolutely I'd bet you.

There was other stuff in there about...why kids get ridden and all that, but this is the most pertinent.

OK it's a no I guess; bye. I was never doing this too argue or listen to you're. My basic point is he's too good. You can analyze differently all you want. You would complain about having to wait in line for a huge lottery prize. peace out

LOL...go back and read the thread dude!

I didn't change my position. You did! I didn't complain about anything. I literally said I thought Ono could win without going down.

You think he'll be able to get out of the bottom from anyone because... as you said, he's more physically mature and he has experience.

You're the one who realized what a bad bet this was for you...and I gave you an out. Take it without being a dick.

Go away? You suddenly become a teenage girl? It's a forum...you don't like it, don't read it. You see what JimmySpeaks said today? Me neither. I have him on ignore. If you're that in your feelings, by all means, use that feature!

And you didn't take the out? LOL...read the thread dude. You made a stupid bet, I made my terms clear and then I gave you the out and you definitely took it. Which is fine. I think you were drinking when this started...

I made a statement bet that gave you an advantage and you try to amend it to get more advantage. RT is cumulative over 3 periods, end of story.  I had a different opinion on a wrestler, and you spent two pages telling me my own take and how ridiculously stupid I am. Frequently using stupid and dumb in reference to me. And I'm the dick and teenage girl.   I'm not going to your level and don't wish to converse with someone wasting my time.

I won 60$ in a skins game and was on a streak and going to let some it ride you're so Unfun!

Interesting.  Are we now all assuming that Penn State has figured out how to get Ono there for at least an additional year?

i was aware of him going 33 but not that Ono was RS'ing.

PSU still seems to have a situation at 141.

He has one year of eligibility, but I know at least on FRL they assumed he would still have the option to redshirt and compete in 2026-2027.

Ah!  I (incorrectly) assumed he got one year, due to Visa things.  It's actually an age thing, then?  He's 21 and has one year of post-HS eligibility remaining?

On FRL they said he had completed 3 years of college in Japan and competed for his school, so my guess is that they are treating those as 3 years of eligibility used, leaving him with a RS and year of actual competition.

That's just my understanding from the bits and pieces that I've heard/read.

If he shirts, at his first NCAAs he'll be 23

Brock Hardy was 22 and 11 months at his first NCAAs in 2023. And that was his first of 4 years of eligibility. 😂
