Like Taylor’s loss to Brooks, Dake’s loss to Valencia serves as an early signal that it’s time. I wouldn’t be surprised if negotiations have been underway for months.

Where do you think he would go?  Who has big money and looking for a change?

Would Iowa take Dake as head coach?

I thought dake had the midichlorian count to get younger and go 57 to challenge Lee?

Well if Dake announces that he wants to coach, I have to believe it will be great for college wrestling, just like it was when David Taylor took the job at Ok.St. This past year with Nebraska and Ok.St.’s performances I believe was a huge factor in energizing our sport.

Nah, he's much more into the health, wellbeing, longevity aspects of human physiology.  Does he even have his own wrestling club that he coaches?

They just gave Tom a new contract correct?

Has anyone had enough experience observing Dake in coaching situations or even in training situations that would lead one to believe that he would be good head coaching material? I have no opinion either way, but in talking with a few who have worked with him, he has not left a good impression.

He'll be too young soon anyway.

truth

He also has stated multiple times, he is family oriented and the college coaching demands do not match his preferred lifestyle.  I think the same could have been said to an extent about DT, so if the check is big enough, his lifestyle preferences might adjust.

There is a level of excellence beyond which you basically have to be what most people see as a sociopath in order to achieve your goals.  Kolat has this, Slay has this (personal experience), Dake definitely has this to be as successful as he was coming out of Cornell, he did EVERYTHING himself, he’s a lone mountain man as arguably any of the very top tier coming out of the US have ever been.  His cornell teams were pretty good, but not on his level.  He had to go to some deep places on his own, didn’t really have a team, and those experiences are so crucial for making really great coaches.

If he was a coach he’d basically be Pai Mei from kill bill.

Would Mike Grey just be pushed aside?

Grey is a much better coach.  He has been in that roll since his injury redshirt season, he’s going to be there until he retires.  With his background he basically has bergen catholic and delbarton on lockdown, you can pull down 4 AA’s all day long just recruiting those two rooms.

Now BC just needs to get dave bell back in there somehow.

He's not going to ruin his dodge ball gig is he?  I don't think he wants to divide the dodge ball talent pool again!

Our NY dream would be for a big wrestling donor to revive a SUNY school like UAlbany or Stonybrook and bring in a major talent like Dake-----it is just a dream of course, but a well funded public D1 school in Albany or Long Island would do very well. It is too bad SUNY never made a true flagship campus as it is the only big population state not to do so. Honestly there is no reason Buffalo, Binghamton, Albany or Stony Brook could not have become a Michigan or Penn State
