I really wish USAW would stop stuffing women's freestyle down our throats. These events are brutal when they mix different styles together. Last year they combined FS, Greco, and Women's and it was one of the worst viewing experiences I've ever had. Give the viewers what they want.

Is it a cost saving method to put these styles together?

No. They could run women's and men's sessions separately and still have the event completed in the same amount of time. This structure is so that if you want to watch Men's FS, you will have a screen up in the background during women's FS that is improving viewership numbers even though you aren't actually watching.

I think it’s more that they want to help the number of viewers for Greco and women’s. It probably does end up hurting the overall viewership though. I think if they had an event with just Men’s freestyle in a shorter amount of time, it would be a lot more popular.

Do you think the minds that make these decisions believe that fostering interest in women's freestyle (and Greco roman) is a net positive for the sport? A friend of mine argued that increasing women's wrestling interest will have some sort of trickle-down "security benefit" to men's college wrestling. I think that sounds like bologna though

I think it makes sense to run them all together.   I generally am not interested in womens FS but I can watch a few matches for the top women.   They could have a mat dedicated to the women and one for the men and that would solve the issue.

Run 3 mats, each with a different style.

1 - Men's freestyle
2 - Women's freestyle
3 - Men's greco

Maybe get announcers who know the underlying style?

This seems pretty simple.

I have been waiting all week for Blaze/Mendez and honestly you could see the difference between high school and an NCAA champ. I know 65 is always the toughest weight in the world but I think we are in good hands with this new guard. Blaze will be just fine too, he is the real deal.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I respectfully disagree
