I asked Grok about it

Based on available reports, the leaked details of the U.S. military strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, which surfaced in a Signal group chat inadvertently including journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, contained sensitive operational information. The specifics mentioned include discussions among senior Trump administration officials—such as Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and National Security Adviser Michael Waltz—about the impending strikes. The chat reportedly revealed operational details such as intended targets, the types of weapons the U.S. planned to deploy, and the sequencing of the attacks. These strikes, executed on March 15, 2025, targeted Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The messages also included real-time updates and congratulatory notes as the strikes unfolded, with one official, Michael Waltz, praising the effort minutes after the strikes hit, alongside emojis of a U.S. flag, fist, and fire. While the exact targets (e.g., specific locations or facilities) were not universally detailed across all sources, the inclusion of such operational specifics in an unsecured chat was described as a significant security lapse, potentially compromising military secrecy and personnel safety. The White House acknowledged the authenticity of the chat, and investigations into how it was leaked are ongoing
?? this says the chat 'reportedly' revealed operational details.

You're right to point out the "reportedly" qualifier. That term reflects the nature of the available information, which comes from secondary sources like news reports rather than a direct, verified leak of the chat itself. As of now, no public primary source (like the full chat transcript) has been released, so the exact details remain somewhat speculative. What’s confirmed is that the Signal group chat, intended for senior Trump administration officials, accidentally included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, leading to the exposure of sensitive discussions about the March 15, 2025, U.S. strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen.
News outlets, such as The Atlantic and Semafor, indicate that the chat contained operational specifics—things like intended targets, weapon types, and attack sequencing—along with real-time updates and reactions. However, without the raw chat logs, the precise wording and full scope of what was leaked are filtered through journalistic interpretation, hence the "reportedly."

The best thing about this story is that both the outrage, and the brushing of it off, has absolutely nothing to do with what happened and everything to do with who is in the oval office.   If this same thing happened two years ago, the comments would basically be the same, just the commenters would just have flipped sides.   (And yes we saw plenty of examples over the last few years.....the proof is in the pudding)

The texts were just released in a follow up article, anyone with half a brain would know you don't make public operational plans/details prior to an attack. Not only that, but people on the group chat are getting these communications while in Moscow and Southeast Asia which is truly the height of incompetence. To add to how bad this is even further, there are now reports many of these people were using personal phones while communicating vs the government issued devices.

The only people saying it wasn't classified are the very people who's jobs' are on the line for this f*ck up. It's all self preservation and that's what right wing media is telling you to think. Read the damn messages, the only possible takeaway is that they royally screwed up and the denials it isn't classified are making the problem so much worse.

i mean for chrissakes even trump said they messed up.

You certainly may think and have your opinions but I can confidently say I would be appalled by this if it were any administration including the last one. I also was critical of the Afghanistan withdrawal. There are actually a lot of people out there including conservatives that just want to see people at the highest levels act competently and take accountability.

'Both sides' this all you want but many out there including conservatives think this is unbelievably careless.

The hypocrisy of the right never ceases to amaze me. Yes, I'd be extremely bothered if somebody in the Biden administration did this. No way I'd make excuses for this. I can also guarantee that the wingers would be all over this like a pitbull on the pant legs of opportunity.

But when the Trump admin did it, they do nothing but gaslight and deflect. Unreal.

I should have qualified my comment with "most of those who participate on this board"...I didn't intend to generalize to the entire public.  My bad.

They got exposed again. They lied by saying that classified info wasn't shared, so the journalist released the info. Busted.

sick and tired of all the blatant lying from the right.

Fire them all!!!!!!

LOLOLOL!!!!

Witkoff was in the Kremlin when he was added to the chat.

The russians made his unsecured phone.

Like I said and prove me wrong the enemy did not receive this information. Only the American reporter inadvertently received the data. There was also no target mentioned, or no country mentioned in the information.

Was the place, person or country mentioned.

It was enough detail to be classified. Unbelievable that you people try to excuse this level of incompetence. Baffling and beyond hypocritical.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is “deeply concerned” about the unauthorized release of classified documents on Israel’s preparation for a potential retaliatory attack on Iran, a White House spokesman said Monday.
