74 and 84 would be my guess

That's brutal. Also, something else that doesn't make sense to me.

Ferrari is the #1 ranked guy on Wrestlestat, McEnelly who took 3rd with losses to just Starocci and PK in very close matches is #2, Sinclair is #8, Ryder 12th and Mantanona 6th.

I would think they'd want to be at '65 and '74 again given the insane depth and youth at '84, but... Mantanona is probably confident he's in that group... so long as he doesn't have any of the Refs that did the Mantanona's HS State Finals matches at the B1Gs or NCAAs...

This is what Wrestlestat is showing for Northern Iowa right now  - vs what I think its going to be:
125: Trever Anderson - no argument here
133: Julian Farber - in agreement
141: Carter Freeman - I think Cory Land will take it
149: Caleb Rathjen - yep
157: Cael Rahnavardi - I think Ryder Downey or Jack Thomsen sucks down
165: Ryder Downey - see above
174: Jared Simma - yes
184: CJ Walrath - mm hm
197: Kalob Runyon - I think John Gunderson bumps up and surprises folks
285: Wyatt Volker - agreed

I've seen rumors of Land 33 and Farber moving up to 41, but I'm not sure if that is still a possibility

If they can get Downey back at 157 and Thomsen at 165, that's a good team.

UNI will have a solid squad regardless.

Not sure they have a Keckeisen type of AA lock on that roster, but 10 guys who could be threats to make blood round.

Ragusin isn't down to weight.  He weighed 133.1-141.0.

Also, they are still held to the 1.5% per week after the initial test.

What’s up with Ragusin? 41?

Downey said on a podcast he planned to bump up after this year. Things may have changed but 165 doesn't seem as deep at 157

Not trying to be a d*ck, but who is an AA candiate on that team? Lillard is tough, but he would have to wrestle out of his mind to AA, he could qualify. Porter, Moran, they are ok, Gilcher is tough, but again, no way he will AA.

I agree with you, it seems.  Below are their Wrestlestat rankings, which we all know are actually ratings based off results.  Keep in mind, they don't include true frosh, who tend to not have any matches towards their ratings - so guys like DLock won't have anything to go off of at 165lbs.

I always want the teams who are typically lower on the B1G totem poll to show out and get pretty good improvement.  That said, this appears to be a saltier dual squad than individual.

Wrestlestat Rankings (ratings):

125 - #16 Moran
133 - #66 Frazier
141 - #39 Porter
149 - #61 Butler
157 - #41 Lowery
165 - #20 Lillard
174 - #29 Gilcher/#66 Rogotzke
184 - #14 Goin
197 - #12 Sollars
285 - #43 Pavlechko

Five NQ looks about right with that roster.  I could see two more as a maybe, but that would have to mean everyone is healthy at the right time of the year and improving at a more drastic rate than their B1G counterparts.  Both of those holding as true by the end of the season are rarely the case, unless you are Penn State, or Michigan's Team #100 and B1Gs are at home.

Good stuff, and I appreciate this. It shows my lack of knowledge, I would have thought the guys I named the highest ranked on the team.

I agree with your initial take, it just didn't include Goin or Sollars - who are still 'just' R12/R16 type guys.

Sollars made the quarterfinals and R12 last year at ncaas I think he has a reasonable chance of improving on that

Moran was R16 with some wins over McGowan, Gallagher, cooper Flynn and some one point loses to Caleb Smith and Steve O so I think he can be in the mix for the podium

Indiana guys seemed to peak at the perfect time for ncaas last year (1AA, 3 R12 guys,1 R16) maybe Escobedo has figured something out
