You don't have to enter the portal to transfer. You can enroll in any school you want and be eligible (if you meet the continuing eligibility rules). The transfer portal merely allows other schools to contact you.

So you're saying that the transfer portal is more like a way to market your services?  But it is not necessary to enter the transfer portal if you want to transfer - provided that it is not the school themselves that are contacting you?  Sorry if I misunderstood you, but that is my sense from what you are saying.

I think that the portal is just a formal way to say that you are open to transferring. It doesn't seem like there are any actual regulations on changing schools. Unenroll, get dismissed, quit, who knows.. You can join any team for second semester.

Yep. That’s correct. It was created to help streamline the transfer process for schools and athletes and allow other schools of your intention to transfer so they may recruit you. It isn’t a requirement to transfer to another school though. You can’t be recruited if you don’t enter the portal.

I heard Arnold’s weight had a large part to do with his dismissal. He’s going to need to try very hard to get to 174 imo.

Isaiah Powe is an interesting one; he took a 25 - 2 record into NCAAs his true freshman year, went into the portal but then returned to Chattanooga. . . and followed it up w/ an 0-3 sophomore year.  To be fair to him, his 3 losses were Mendez, Latona, and Eligh Rivera of Princeton; all in November and then he went MIA after that and back in the portal.

Something seems off in all of that but there's also some real potential in the right room.

A poster here claims he was kicked off the team and that he’d be surprised if anyone else picked him up, but never gave specifics about what happened

Lock Haven it is!

Not even tongue in cheek... their success with Marsteller is nothing short if spectacular.

Haha! I liked your post (well, Bob Doled it). To be fair, I'm not sure he was actually referring to your post.

That said, I've made 134 terrible posts (and counting)...I just keep coming back and this forum just keeps putting up with me! 😉

If we're talking pure quantity of terrible posts, I have more than #2 & #3 combined...

I think Dutton officially retired and is helping coaching back at his old HS.

Oh don't worry, I'm not going away - just strategically set the bar really low so I look like I'm getting better at this

lol, TBH I’m kinda skeptical that whatever he did was so bad that no one would take him, or else he probably would have been in the news.

I was just about to post this! tough has hell, lots of upside.  Injuries, and I heard he is not a big fan of school.
