So you're saying that the transfer portal is more like a way to market your services?  But it is not necessary to enter the transfer portal if you want to transfer - provided that it is not the school themselves that are contacting you?  Sorry if I misunderstood you, but that is my sense from what you are saying.

I think that the portal is just a formal way to say that you are open to transferring. It doesn't seem like there are any actual regulations on changing schools. Unenroll, get dismissed, quit, who knows.. You can join any team for second semester.

Yep. That’s correct. It was created to help streamline the transfer process for schools and athletes and allow other schools of your intention to transfer so they may recruit you. It isn’t a requirement to transfer to another school though. You can’t be recruited if you don’t enter the portal.

I heard Arnold’s weight had a large part to do with his dismissal. He’s going to need to try very hard to get to 174 imo.
