If Bo wrestles to win and not to lose, he can win it all.  He has been wrestling not to lose and that doesn't work.

It has worked. He’s undefeated this season and just beat #1 Mendez.

From a ranking standpoint now, I think it would go 1. Alirez 2. Bartlett 3. Mendez

I agree that those should be the rankings, but based on schedule, I would hope that whoever wins B1Gs gets the #1 seed, Alirez the 2, and B1G runner-up 3. Alirez' best win on the season is Josh Edmond. Both Bartlett and Mendez have had significantly better bodies of work this season. Alirez and AJ Ferrari have basically wrestled the same schedule this year. If Barr beats Buchanon at B1Gs, I feel like most would object to AJ getting promoted to the #1. I don't see why Alirez should be viewed any differently outside of subjectivity.

I assume undefeated alirez gets #1 seed…. If Mendez takes one at bigs.  The Algo and all.

I'm not disagreeing that Alirez gets the #1 seed.. I'm just saying it seems like a crime to reward someone who doesn't have a top 10 win for wrestling a limited and weak schedule. He should have to go through both. Mendez and Bartlett shouldn't have to wrestle-off in the semis to see who gets the chance to wrestle Alirez who hasn't tested himself all season.

Super fair.  Seeding by Algo does that tho 😞

Bartlett should be the #1 seed. He is unbeaten and beat the #1 guy. Alirez might win the whole bag of marbles but he's wrestled a pretty soft schedule.

How can you say that?  We still have more wrestling!

At this point he should be the #1 ranked guy and presuming he's unbeaten going in to NCAAs, he should be #1.

Looking at wrestlestat, I gotta agree.  Northern Colorado had most of their starters at both the Cougar Clash (won by Vombaur) and Southern Scuffle and Alirez went to neither.  He also sat out the UNI dual (Happel) among others.

I assume PSU uses an AI model to mine all of the wisdom from the intermat college wrestling forum and other similar august collections of old wrestler wisdom.  But don't tell the other programs as this is the real secret to their success!

Don't underestimate the power of wrestling forums. I remember reading stuff on a forum a couple years ago that OSU should replace John Smith with David Taylor, and poof, it happened.

Not to this topic but does 141 feel a bit more wide open to you guys now? Hardy got reversed last second to lose to bartlett and Beau goes on to beat Jesse. Jesse also nearly lost to Vombaur. Now Hardy I dont think can beat Jesse those matches have not been particularly close, and Hardy is also 0-3 against Cael Happel, could Happel be in the mix? He has two bad losses in Schwartz and Tagg but as previously mentioned he has beaten Hardy,Lemley and frost x3. Alirez seems to have Beaus number hes 3-0 across free and folk and the matches have not been all that competitive, Beau and Jesse seems to be a 50/50. Hardy vs Beau is not a 50/50 but it seems like Hardy can beat him. Hardy cannot beat Jesse or Happle. Could Vombaur beat Beau? it was close until Beau cradled and pinned him last year and vombaur has gotten much better although all of beau's matches are close. Then we have Alirez who has really not wrestled anyone of note this year. I would also through in Jamison. He does not really get blown out could he sneak out a one exchange match with one of the top guys?

All that to say I think seeding could be crucial at NCAA's and at a weight where I honestly had it a 2-horse race after the all-star I think it could be really interesting come March.

I still think its a 3 horse race, so the 1 seed matters.

Kinda sorta, but if the #1 seed is legit he should win regardless of the other seeds.

That should be a crazy weight at B1Gs and NCAAs, for sure. It's definitely Bartlett, Mendez, and Alirez as favorites but with some other guys capable of pulling off the upset to make the finals.  Would be fun to see Hardy pull off an NCAA title his final year. I don't think Lemley is all that good this year and would be surprised if he placed. Jamison is tough, but unpolished. I could see him finish mid-AA to R12. Happel is a little better than Jamison, still.

For what it is worth, today's Wrestlestat has Bartlett at #1.

Today's Win rankings has Alirez at #1 and Mendez at #2.  What, pray tell, absurd reasoning leads them to put Mendez above Bartlett?

I think FLO's and Intermat's rankings appear tomorrow.

I would guess WIN is basing it on 1 championship > 0 championships. I would have Bartlett #1 myself.

And Flo drops some time tonight.
