Ferrari came forward & engaged when he got hit with the 2nd stall call.  Ref could've called it before that but at that moment it was the wrong call

Everything. Go to knee, back up to edge with minimal contact, wrestle from out of bounds, decline invitations to return in bounds, decline instructions to return in bounds, stay on all fours out of bounds. Starocci caused none of that. Ferrari chose all of that.

I'm still confused.  How many offensive points did the 4x NC score against the tFr?  🙄

How does one score against their total fertility rate?

I Don't Agree With What I Posted

DeSanto: pushes RBY to the edge

: "He's stalling!!!1!"

Mr. Hollywood: pushes all match without a single offensive attempt

: "Well ACHTUALLY, pushing your opponent around without shooting IS offense and should be rewarded!!!"

I guess, like all things with Carter, it's just an act. In this case, it's the act of making it look like you're sorta trying to score that should be enough to give you the match.

As many as he needed to to win, which appeared to be all he was interested in.

Just as would be the outcome if they wrestled ten more times -- if he needed a takedown, which he wouldn't, because he wouldn't be taken down and would win on the mat, then he'd get one.

I'm actually ok with the stall calls in general, but have spent years having it explained to me on the forums that just handfighting and pushing to the edge is not wrestling and thus should not earn stall calls, and yet....

Carter in his 6th year and will be 24 in a few days. Couldn't get a takedown on a true freshman in his fourth appearance. Give the Hodge to whoever wins heavyweight

If Carter doesn’t win #5 then his teammate Messenbrink will be a virtual lock if he ends up around 30-0 with 28tech falls and 2 wins by forfeit…. You know, the pace he’s currently on? Scoring 25 points at Nationals will help solidify it for him now too. He just tech’s #2 Caliendo I believe for the second time in a row, the first time dating back to last year correct me if I’m wrong.

MM probably only one who could beat out Steveson.

Edit: Messenbrink did tech Caliendo last year too, but just majored him 17-9 in their last matchup of last season.

Messenbrink now has 40 college wins with just 1 loss last 2 seasons, 40-1.

Broken down he has:

Pins: 6

Tech Falls: 22

Decisions: 8

Forfeit Wins: 3

Inj Default Wins: 1

1 Loss in National title match.

I thought Ferrari's size gave Starocci a little trouble. He looked pretty big, and Starocci was sucking some wind late in the match. Maybe he was doing just enough to win without giving the Mini Focus a real feel. He never seemed to be in any real danger of losing.

Dunno what Ferrari's gameplan was, as he didn't really get anything going, but dude needs to learn to keep off the edges and circle back to center. IF they wrestle folkstyle again, Starocci will probably be ready for Ferrari's roll-through single leg defense thing.

I don't blame Brands for trotting Ferrari out, because now he knows exactly where he's at. Pretty nice that we will likely get to see both Ferracci and Starnold this season.

He's a beast.  One huge brain cramp away from potentially the best career ever.

Plan: keep it close. Make it a 20 second match. Steal a takedown at the end for a win.

Did anyone else think Angelo showed no urgency to escape? No hand control. No Desanto hair on fire movement to get out. It could have been in the plan. He can get ridden for an hour and give up 1 point but if he escapes he could give up 3.

My analysis of the match was Angelo is very mat savvy but I feel like we knew that already and he has great single leg defense which if you have watched him at all you knew. I would imagine carter knew that Angelo was really good at going splits off a single and then diving under to leg pass and coming out the back door, he hit carters teammate with that twice at who's 1. After agnelo got in on Carter the first time I think he realized he was probably at little risk of being taken down if he did not over extend himself which I think lead to the match we saw. I give Angelo all his flowers I think he wrestled really well but I think Carter wrestled a smart measured match where he did not force an issue that he did not need to.

Carter won this match because he rode him for over half a period and then immediately on the escape, he was on the ankle for another 40 almost getting the TD on the edge. Thats a full period negating Ferrari on his feet were they were even maybe, at least no one got a TD. Star showed he's a man against a young buck. The stalling could have been avoided with experience.  The ref said center when Angelo was off the mat.  Angelo just stared at Starocci and motioned for him to come at him. Ref immediately hit him for young buck insubordination. Not centering (because the cap on his nose blew off and it started to glow) yes he deserved it.

But I dont know if Angelo's done enough yet to be compared to Rudolph!

Messenbrink will never win a Hodge!  Mark my words and take it to the bank.

Then why couldn't he score an offensive point?
