I do not remember if it was Ryan Day or Marcus Freeman who said in a post-game interview that growing up a coach told him the other team prays too.

I got a chuckle out of that.

It reminded me of the old joke my dad loved to tell.

A priest and a gambler are at a boxing match. Before the start of the match one of the boxers performs the sign of the cross. The gambler, looking for any edge he can use, turns to the priest and asks, "will that help him father?"

The priest replies, "not a damn if he can't box."

I must of missed this as well. I thought people were critical of Brooks because they perceived his remarks as anti-Muslim more than just praising god.

It seems very common for athletes in all sports to praise Jesus Christ, not sure who is arguing otherwise.

Also, what a dumb statement by that guy lol.  They made the title game because they prayed more than the other teams?  First of all how does he even know that? Second of all I didn’t realize religion was a competition

Yup. For grins, I just checked out the thread about Brooks “no false prophets, no Muhammad” comments and sure enough @Scouts Honor was one of the primary defenders of Brooks.  Funny enough he seemingly made several of those comments in defense of Brooks before even listening to the interview, and was conflating people being upset with Brooks’ comments specifically (where comments like that are not normal across other sports), and just thanking God/Jesus in general.

One more distinction on Brooks though, I don't really mind the Allah thing, being religious implies the exclusion of all other religions by definition, so him making that comment is meaningless. However he also crowbarred "the lord" in a lot while obviously taking a dump on Taylor and it wasn't a good look.

I believe that the Anglicans and episcopals have priests as well. It is not just a Catholic thing. Though there are plenty of Catholic priests and popes that have children but that is neither here nor there.

It astonishes me that full grown men believe invisible gods are pulling strings to help them win wrestling matches. Honestly, in a logical world people like that would be locked up in nuthouses and treated for mental disorders.

It definitely gets shoved down our throats in every sport. It certainly is not unique to NCAA wrestling or Penn State.

Just once I'd like to see a guy win an NCAA title and proclaim "Hail Satan". Not that I'm a Satanist or anything, but it would be a nice change of pace and can you imagine the very real outrage from the very faux "christians"?

All I can say is Liberty Football has some 'splainin' to do.

The university president of Liberty is literally a cuck whose wife was banging the poolboy for years. That's why the word "cuck", which was all the rage in the rightwing blogs for years, suddenly dropped from their vernacular.

Or if someone said, "Most people thank God after they win but not me. I'd like to thank me because I did this."
