Gable beat Mason 3 times in 2023, now that was freestyle, but those matches were not that close and just going off trials results it seems like Mason has widened the gap from Greg.

Why I am predicting Gable wins, but at least Greg is in the conversation.

As far as how it happens, I’m thinking he might be able to be “out-quicked” because of the extra weight he’s carrying this season.  I’d also give Hendrickson a better chance of turning him than Kerk.  Which if Hendrickson was the one to heat him it could potentially be the start of the legend of Taylor’s coaching career…

I'll have this bookmarked.  If its even remotely  close major kudos.

I could see Kerk beating him if the match is tied 0-0 after one period. Kerk would need to play the edge and avoid getting called for stalling.

2-1 in TB2 on 1 second of RT?

Ok so if the bet is Steveson vs the field what odds am I getting?

Expand

I'd comfortably give 2:1 odds to the field.  I think it's easily twice as likely that Steveson wins than anyone else does.

I have nothing against Steveson personally, but as a wrestling fan, I am very over the whole Gable schtick. Is he wrestling, is he not? Will he come back, won't he? IMO he shouldn't have eligibility if he simply chose not to participate the past two years. And the retroactive "Olympic Redshirt" for athletes that weren't enrolled in college nor entered in a single freestyle tournament is a joke.

So true!

it was a rude way of saying his wrestling isn't sophisticated enough to beat Steveson. He's really open and really bold, but he's not good enough to make his blitzkrieg work on steveson. Should have said it nicer.

His goon-ness may be tempered and controlled by his head coach.

I just wasn't sure what you meant. I take no offenses on behalf of Wyatt.

I actually think Wyatt has a better chance of beating Gable than Kerk. I think Wyatt is more likely to get into an exchange where he could score big points/a fall than Kerk. You aren't beating Gable by playing his game.

Totally agree.

Kerkvliet has improved a fair amount since Gable last beat him. I think he might have a chance against Gable because of Gable being rusty. But I can't see Hendrickson beating Gable or Kerk. Great kid, but those guys are both a good deal better than he is on the mat.

That goon-ness has given him Gorarrians and a u23 world title on a torn knee. It put him six inches out of bounds from teching the eventual senior world bronze medalist. I hate that I'm making this comparison for so many reasons but...

What is the difference between Hendrickson and Messenbrink's styles?

Bump!  Full disclosure I did not take @boconnell’s bet and picked Steveson in my Lineup Legends entry (but as I said originally I wasn’t sure who it would be to beat him)

I’m not sure if it will be Kerk or Hendrickson, but I think one of them beats him.

Getting flashbacks to 2022 Spencer Lee with most people seeming to assume him winning is a foregone conclusion.

I was massively wrong.

I was also massively happy as an OSU fan and a Hendrickson fan.  A happy idiot is a great thing to be tonight.
