If he weighed 184 at Soldier Salute then it takes 26 days. Which would get him there  for the OSU dual. Assuming he doesn't weigh in at 184 again.

As long as we're speculating, Arnold v. Hamiti and Ferrari v. Plott would be super fun to watch

I think their hands would be pretty well tied if Ferrari was beating arnold, and arnold was openly saying he wants to go down. They could have claimed they were doing what best for the team without those details.

Yes, I agree. I realize that in my previous post I only acknowledge Ferrari forcing their hand, while it could have also been Gabe believing he is best at 174. I'm curious how the goes in the room are between Nelson, Arnold, and Kennedy.

A part of me wondered when he was going 184 this year instead of 174 was because it wasn't a given that he would beat out Nelson or Kennedy for the spot, so he decided to get bigger and just stay at 184 after performing well there last year while undersized.

How lucky we would be if more coaches would just tell you their roster plans like Coach Dresser.

He wouldn't be anywhere near the first guy to go into a season thinking they wanted to eat, only to find themselves not as effective at the higher weight and decide they aren't so hungry after all.

If ferrari wasn't panning out the best lineup does likely leave arnold at 84.

Is Nelson still on the squad?

Iowa is turning into a daytime show.   Protect Nelson, bring in Gabe who will be gone, screw Kennedy, now RS Ferrari to try and keep Gabe

Brands has lost all control of the team.  PSU did not have any where close to the transfers out that Iowa had.

I don’t recall Iowa losing many transfers prior to last season.  Could have been an anomaly.  I just looked back since about 2021 and the only other notable one I see was Henson unless I missed any:

Henson

Siebrecht x2

Rhodes

Riggins

Glazier

Hill

PSU seems to lose a guy or so each year:

Meredith

Verkleeren

Negron

Barraclaugh

Beard

Nevills

And before that Teske, Teasdale, Suriano, etc.

But lets not facts stand in the way of our fandom!

I don’t think I would put Teasdale in the same category.  But yeah.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that, I’d expect guys who can qualify for NCAA’s but can’t start to transfer out.

this all begs the question does starocci piss on angelos grave to prove a point to AJ now.

Well as long as we are wildly speculating about guys dropping weight mid season, what are the chances we see AJ drop to 184 just to take out little bro & Starocci?  🤔

The only point he has proven is that he wanted no part of wrestling AJ at the all-star or anywhere else.  And that is one match I would actually root for Carter in !

I don't think this is accurate.  I think Ferrari would wrestle Starocci at 197lbs. I think he wants no part of wrestling Starocci or anyone else at 184lbs.  Initially Starocci said he planning to go up to 197 at some point he changed that to 184lbs.  To me at this point Starocci is more to blame for the match not happening than Ferrari.  If Starocci offered the match at 197lbs then my opinion would change.

I agree with this.  Everyone seems to think that Ferrari was the one that pushed this, but it very well could have been Arnold.  If indeed it was Arnold's desire to wrestle at his best weight that pushed Kennedy out then it wouldn't be out of the question that Ferrari still redshirts.  Nelson Brands may move up to cover 184 if he loses to Arnold.  With it taking 4 weeks for Arnold to drop we may not have clarity on this for some time.  Ferrari still has a few competition dates remaining before he must decide on his redshirt.   He could wrestle 184 in duals until Arnold drops and Brands/Arnold settle business at 184 after which the loser returns to 184 and Ferrari defers eligibility.

What is not accurate? That is 100% what I said.  Starocci offered an NCAA illegal gambling match against Ferrari at 190 lbs knowing AJ could not make the weight and the NCAA would ban him for gambling.
