after testimony in the .... (idk british politics well)....House of Lords i think it's called

outlined several stories and statistics of young girls being raped (a plague, and nothing is done about it)

it's long overdue for a conversation.

not a political one (it happens on both sides), not a racial/ethnic one (every faction is guilty)

but a human one. in every corner of the world this stuff goes on.

and it's becoming increasingly clear governments (everywhere) cover it up or at least aren't acting on it enough.

my question is - why is humanity so hell bent on sexualizing minors (i think humanity has a sex problem in general fwiw)

and 2) wtf is going on with institutions around the world?

Says the guy who very, very closely follows HS boys wrestling.

Be careful casting stones when you live in a glass house.

you're one second away from being banned.

that's your warning.

it's utterly stupid to connect the two, and utterly disgusting to insinuate.

and why? because you're protecting people that enable the rape of children.

anyway. that's your warning, scumbag.

test it.

We sexualize everything. Look at our TV commercials, shows and movies as example A1. Pretty women can get whatever they want in our society.

Can't expect it to only magically start happening when a girl turns 18.

It was probably much worse several decades ago.

You don’t have to go far to find people who know right from wrong.

that's part of my problem/confusion.

why does sex/sexuality rule or attention or consciousness to the degree it does? i understand that there's an innate draw to what humans find sexual. but damn, it appears that a significant portion of the world's population cannot and will not control itself. it's bizarre to me. they know it's wrong, they know the victims will be scarred for life, and they can't help themselves. it might be the one most pervasive act of selfishness on earth. it's almost like they are uncontrollable.

at least they used to know they'd go to prison. but it in light of recent events, for some reason, governments around the world aren't much interested in holding them accountable.

it's difficult to not be misanthropic about this.

Why would they vote not to deport sex offenders who are illegal aliens?   I thought everyone was against sex offenders.   Apparently the Ds are for sex offenders.  W

We obviously need more religion to tell us how depraved and sinful we are. With those same people offering us the one and only way to cleanse ourselves of the filth that we were born into. Keeping in mind, many of them have a financial stake in convincing us that they, alone, hold the wisdom passed down from on high meant to be the balm of our sinful nature. That'll do it, right?

Rape and sexual assault are universally thought of as something that should not be tolerated.  Rs and Ds are together on this.  Please note the Ds reasoning for not supporting Brett Kavanaugh as a Scotus justice.

Are you saying sexual assault is acceptable?  If so, in what conditions is it acceptable?  Is sexual assault ok to a 90 year old woman?   80 year old?   70 year old?   50 year old? 30 year old?   20 year old?   10 year old?  0 year old?   And any in between?   Is sexual assault against boys/men acceptable?   It sounds like you are finding sexual assualt acceptable by bringing up a religious resistance that you have.

It's wild to go back and look at lots of stuff from the 90s and 00s.

Countdown clocks for when Anna Kournikova and the Olsen Twins turned 18 really sticks out.

As for @Husker_Du's questions, I don't really have a good answer for why this is so common. As for what's going on with our institutions, I think Yuval Levin is right when he says that we no longer seek to be molded by institutions but rather use them solely to "build our brand." When you don't really care about the institution you're a part of, you don't care if it works well or not. You just want to use it as a platform. So no one feels the need to make hard choices or do hard things for the betterment of the institution itself.

This goes hand in hand with so many youth wanting to be an influencer for their career.

JonBenet Ramsey.

I remember being in elementary school when that happened. The entire thing seemed wild to me. Who would dress their daughter up like that? Who would enter a kindergartner in a beauty pageant? Why do beauty pageants for 6 year old children exist?

I’m not suggesting the parents did anything bad. But the entire concept grosses me out the older I get. And, I would never think of making my kids do anything like that (and that’s the thing: no 6 year old wakes up and says, “Yes, mama/daddy, please enter me in a contest where I dress up like … whatever that is … and I am evaluated on my appearance by grown ass adults.”

To clarify:

I’m not suggesting they did anything wrong, re: her death. The case is unsolved, nearly 30 years later.

Beauty pageants for 6 year olds? That’s not good. Can’t convince me otherwise.

you're inadvertently making my point for me. the world was universal in condemning a trend in the catholic church. why do we not see that same sentiment and energy directed at the secular world for which the problem occurs at an exponentially greater frequency?

human trafficking, hollywood, epstein island, india, iran and now the UK - all have insane cases/culture of rape and pedophilia and yet nothing is done about it.
