How does that work with the Ivy League?  Does he not enroll?

I thought that Stanford joined the ACC.  Did I misunderstand and Stanford actually joined the Ivy League?

Ivy leagues don't allow redshirts. Stanford has never been in the Ivy league. They were always Pac12 and now ACC for wrestling.

If I was Cardenas and his coaches I would seriously consider pulling that RS and making a run for the title this year.  With Teemer down to injury and Shapiro (who Cardenas was 2-1 against last year) possibly dealing with concussion issues that weight is wide open.  As a Lehigh guy I am hoping Max Brignola would consider making a run at this weight if he thinks he could still make it and be effective.

Cardenas wrestled at the Soldier Salute (listed as "Stanford").  The rest of the team is at Midlands.

Iowa recruiting trip?

Is Soldier Salute an open tournament?

UNC is also at Soldier Salute, wasn’t Cardenas originally a Cornell commit while Koll was there?

What are you suggesting?  Old friends getting together?  Cardenas committed to Cornell, then joined a bunch of other commits and followed Koll to Stanford.

Pure speculation, but with him going to a different tournament than the rest of his team I wouldn’t be surprised if he hits the portal.  I just wouldn’t be so quick to assume that Iowa would be the favorites to land him if that happens.

I wouldn't expect him to leave Stanford without a degree, but if he did I could see him at the school with the extremely ugly sky blue two piece singlets that is currently wrestling at the Soldier Salute.

(How could anyone think that switching to a two piece as ugly as Carolina's is going to "save wrestling, " I will never understand.)

Wearing a "Bear Cave" singlet in final.  Club team?

I think he's just forecasting his living quarters for next year - Terrell Barraclough's basement (while competing for Utah Valley of course)

Yeah that was what he was wearing earlier.  Looks like it’s in Colorado and he is from Colorado

they said it on the broadcast any time he or Vombaur were wrestling.  Vance Vombaurs dad's club team is the Bear Cave in Greeley, Co. Vombaur, Cardenas and Alirez all wrestled there.

Fun fact, Vance's dad Ben was the first ever undefeated high school wrestler from Washington State. However, he was from a school district where high school was only 10-12, so he was an undefeated 3x State Champion. 2x All-American at Boise IIRC. RIP Broncos wrestling.

Did they just switch it up this year? And if so, was it really to save wrestling?

I haven't seen them, got an example?

He was also the HC at Wasatch HS (same school as Cael) for a brief stint. I remember at one of his boys was just starting to walk before the family moved, wonder if it was Vance now.
