I am guessing Jax will move up to 141 next year.. If he makes the WT this year I think it will be his last time at 61Kg. I expect that he has his sights set on a Gold Medal in LA. If he does a year at 141 for college will let him go for the WT in 27 at 65kg and if he medals there he is in the finals for the Olympic spot. Just a guess but time will tell. If the smaller Raney can make 133 he will probably compete with RR for that spot. The larger Raney may be SOL if Jax Vega & Landon spend the next 4 years at 141, 149 & 157. That is to far out to project though as you can never tell how these young guys will grow.

It would be quite the coup - especially if Seidel can man 133 effectively again - best case scenario is the 1st 5 starters being national title contenders.

If people are right who are saying BB is 141 next year and CH is at 149 that could work well. I don't think Seidel can hold 133 for another year but I could be completely wrong about that

PSU has no room for him in their lineup for the next 3 years - more than likely PJ Duke is at 165 for those 3 years with MM going 174 next year. If they RS PJD next year MM stays at 165 and they use Henckel or Asher C at 174 - the only way they could fit him in one year is if PJD Olympic RS in 2028.

If you don't think a healthy Ono would be a title contender at 133 this year I would conclude that you are very bad at analyzing wrestling. Ono is one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in the world and he would very much contend for a title at 133 this year if healthy. I would put him as a slight favorite in a monster weight.

Doucet is a good heavyweight - he will be in the mix to AA this year - I am not sure if he will break through but he has definitely improved from where he was 2 years ago.

Lugo was the #1 seed with O'Connor at #2 and Sasso at #3 - I would also include the Priceton kid Kolodzik (#6 seed in the bottom half with AC & SS) as a serious contender for the title. I do think it was likely that Lugo made the finals but I could see any of those 4 winning it.

I remember thinking that about both Mark Churella and Bruce Kinseth when Churella beat him at 150 lbs in 1978. The next year Churella won at 167 lbs and did not look small. Kinseth made 150 and won it in 1979 pinning everyone he wrestled. A few years later he also won the AAU and USAW titles in 1982 at 82 kg which is 180 lbs. I'll never know how those guys held 150 and wrestled effectively.

Matty Lopes is a really good back up - he doed have a red shirt to use this year if he wants to but if he thinks he can make and hold 125 he may challenge Seymour. Regardless of what Lopes does I expect that Mason Ziegler will also be pushing Seymour for the spot. Seymour as a returning AA has to be favored but both of those young guys are really good.

I never saw him compete but he did come to Lehigh when I was a junior - he demonstrated his shoulder throw and headlock for our team. A teammate who was Japanese=American translated for him during the clinic. I remember he was very short with a barrel chest and huge legs.

I saw he won PA 3A states at 114 in 2024 - I did not see him in the brackets in 2025 - what happened?

I am not sure how they make the decision on which students go to the prep schools - I would be surprised if athletic considerations are major factors - I would guess that some of it depends on how many slots are open for the incoming class - if anyone out there has any informed insights on this I would love to here them.

The service academies do not have redshirts - Once you start with your class as a plebe it is expected that you are going to graduate with that class. The academies do have prep schools associated with them that they have some recruits attend prior to starting in the academy. That can serve a similar purpose as a redshirt but the student has not started matriculating at the school yet.

I don't agree - Luke has grown into the weight more and is still improving - I won't say I'm picking him over JM but I think it will be a very competitive match.

The World Gold CC won in 1981 was at 82KG (180lbs) as was the 1980 Olympic team spot he won. when he returned 10 years later to compete it was at 90kg (198lbs)
