Facundo had a less than impressive win over an unranked Drexel opponent.  Kasak had a close win over a ranked opponent at the All-Star classic.  Facundo looks emaciated at 157 -- he was wrestling 171 his final year of HS.

Who do you go with at 157?  My personal pick is Kasak.

If Facundo won the wrestle off and its just a matchup thing and he gets the better of him again at Black knight I think you go with Facundo unless he proves that he just cannot get it done against the rest of the field. The weight cut more than likely only gets harder as the year goes on... unless you're Levi Haines.

Eh. I'd argue the opposite. When you're dealing with a situation where you're shrinking your body, it's a process that takes time. And the longer you do it, the easier it gets (unless you let yourself balloon up after every weigh-in). When you cut way down, make it once, let yourself balloon up, and then try to cut back down an extended time period later, that's harder on the body IMO.

Agree with that for sure but I think it can be person to person. Facundo seemed like a pretty lean guy at 74kg. My worry would be that even if he gets close to a set point around 157 and the cut is not necessarily brutal he may lose strength and muscular endurance as the season goes on just because his body is eating itself because he's so lean and also expending so much energy.

if Facundo won the wrestle off , the spot should be his but i think you need more than just 1 match or even the best of 3

I am a  fan of wrestle offs at younger ages / typically the better wrestler is the better wrestler period

but as they progress in age and skill set while wrestle offs are still good litmus test, they don't always tell whole story and i think that is exactly what we are seeing here

this will be a reoccurring issue for Penn state at numerous weights as they just so deep in that room

NOT a bad problem to have

Turns out Kasak. He beat Facundo 5-2 at the Black Knight Invitational.

The other weight of interest to PSU wrestle offs in that tournament was 197 where Josh Barr beat Connor Mirasola 11-0 and then beat Lucas Cochran 10-1.

Not sure if there was ever any confirmation on what Mineo reported but if there was not after watching the Black knight im going to go out on a limb and say he was lying.

What did he predict?  If it was wrong he probably deleted it.

He said there were past wrestleoffs that Facundo and Cochran won.

he's so lying. If he had eyes on stuff like that he'd know enough about that room to get me back on facebook.

Minnow?  Lying?  Surely, this must be some sort of mistake.

Please don't cry about being in his Farcebook page.

It is very easy to get around that.

What is funny is the scores are(were) almost opposite.

Cochran supposedly won via Major over Barr and Facundo over Kasak via 8-3 Decision.

That said, the margins are thin in the Kasak/Facundo dynamic.  I think you send Facundo still.

If Barr flipped a Major to a Major, I think you go off whomever is hot until B1G season rolls around, then you go with who you are determining to be the B1G starter end-of-year.

I disagree with the Kasak facundo situation because I dont really think they value the RS that much with the guys they have coming in. With the Teemer and Shapiro Injuries I also think Kasak can win the entire thing while also offering a much higher floor than Facundo.

Kasak was always a top hammer in PIAA, so Facundo would need to be better on his feet but he could not produce a good shot let alone takedown.

At least Facundo didn't get ridden for 3 minutes, so moral victory there.

Didn't Kasak score the only TD of the match vs Facundo?

I think Kasak is better than Facundo in all 3 positions in folk.  Facundo may be the better freestyler though.

I meant Facundo needed to be better on his feet. Post edited.

Sad to say, but I think Facundo needs to transfer at wrestle closer to his natural weight (174).  I could see him being the next Bearclaw and AA'ing for another program.  Penn State is so loaded they can't wait 2+ years for a guy to develop.

It isn't really all lies.

It has shifted from 'rumors' and about 20-25% accuracy to actual smoke and about 75-80% accuracy.  More people do tell him *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me* now than before when he was some pleb bickering with other keyboard warriors in the Facebook group MMA Topics.
