First off, I couldn't find any online sources to confirm this so take this with a grain of salt but apparently Mr. Pyles heard Rei say he would wait and see what UWW was going to do with the weights before deciding what his future holds.

This got me thinking, what weight changes would you like to see?

59 63 66 71 75 80 87 93 100 130 is what I'd like to see.

I'd like the 10 classes from 1969 to 1996.

48kg/105.5 lb.   52kg/114.5 lb.   57 kb/125.5 lb.   62kg/136.5 lb.  68 kg/149.9 lb.  74kg/163 lb.   82kg/180.5 lb.  90kg/198 lb.

100kg/220 lb.    HWT/Unlimited

When was the last time anyone on these here boards made 48 or 52kg?

I was 103 freshmen year and 112 sophomore year does that count?   Had a very hard time keeping 126 fr/so year of college….. 134 wasn’t much easier junior year lol.

Ten weights for both styles:

55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 100, 130

Our NCAA weight classes then need to be adjust to follow suit.

The IOC is never going to add more weights back.  It isn't about medal count, it is about number of participants.

Got you beat 105 Jr and 112 Sr years.  Growth spurt in college 134 - 142.

I like the distribution but, man, how many people are going to make 55?

I agree it sounds crazy by Western standards, but maybe it would help the sport's global reach? I am under the impression that boxing goes all the way down to 105lbs (47.6kg) and has six weight classes up to featherweight (~57kg) because it allows guys from Latin America, Asia, and countries with generally smaller-sized athletes to compete.

The pool of athletes at these lowest weight classes in definitely smaller, but they are there.  And 57 kg is simply way too high for too many great competitors.

I would be okay with 95 instead of 55.

On Olympic years we get rid of the weights ending in '5' for our six weights.

What “many” great competitors is 57kg too high for?  Kurt McHenry?  He’s the only one I can think of.

Other countries were usually much better at the lower weights than the US. i have a to think those countries still have undersized wrestlers.

This one is kind of crazy. Two weights that basically 0.01% of the world population can make? I feel that we'd be better off starting at 60kg.

Given Dake's comments after the Olympics, would he give it another 4 years if he could wrestle 79kgs instead? Wonder who else would go another cycle with a 3-5kg allowance?

Honestly, how badass would it be to see him go 79 KG then give 86 KG a go on his last go?

The distribution for the NCAA weights makes sense: 125 - 133 (8 pounds), 133 - 141 (8 pounds), 141 - 149 (8 pounds), 149 - 157 (8 pounds), 157 - 165 (8 pounds), 165 - 174 (9 pounds), 174 - 184 (10 pounds), 184 - 197 (13 pounds). The heavier weights have greater weight spans. For free, I would suggest: 60, 63, 68, 75, 84, 94, 104, 130 based on larger spans at higher weights.
