ok so carrol is in the portal, "on the heels of qualifying for the oylmpic trials?" He already wrestled in it. Did he recently qualify for 2028?

Any chance this might fit in the "transfer portal" thread?  🤔

we're gonna need more than one thread if this is to be a forum.

Former commitments to:

Jumped schools in HS and sat out a year due to transfer.

Illinois commitment (then flip)

Penn commitment (then flip)

Oklahoma St attendee (redshirt year and now possible flip)

Carroll has become a high quality wrestler “gun for hire” for sure after this latest performance. Is this a move due to Smith to Taylor change, maximize NIL options, or wanting to remain HWT over sucking to 190? Either way this yet another sign of wrestling being in a new era where you have additional options to jump ship than ever needed.

When i started the thread i was mostly mad that flo can't put together a sensical tweet...

but if we're stuck on the subject, I'd guess he's partying too hard and taylor told him to hit the road.

I doubt it's because he's partying too hard.  I'd guess it's more to do with the fact that Carroll apparently didn't want Taylor to get the job.

What is that based on? My idea wasn't based on anything substantive btw.

Maybe he's just never liked dodgeball.

Seems like this is the thing to do … basically, Hey donors and money sources - I’m leaving unless you pay me more.  See, I’m in the portal, I’m serious.

He tweeted this before DT came in.   Maybe more upset that Scott didn't get the job. Has a do not contact tag - hmmm....From everything I have been reading their were some "issues" with CC and more guys may be heading out.  I believe either yesterday or today is the 30 day marker.   What may be more fun to watch than where CC lands, is all of the new Cowboy fans who came on here with their chest out after DT was hired, explode.   Don't worry Cowboy fans, it happens welcome to the world where you lose guys. BTW, has Taylor now lost as many guys as he has gained. He may go into the negative soon.

Obviously didn't rub off. Pretty sure we can expect another one for his graduate year.

You forgot to mention that he attended three different high schools!

Yeah so why didn't he ever commit to UNC?  That is my question.

We'll see how 'loyal and true' he is if(when) Scott lands a spot as Hofstra or something 'lesser' than OSU.  See if he heads there, right?

I think he would fit nicely at Iowa at 197.  Supposedly AJ is leaving Iowa...

Is it true Focus is heading to Happy Valley just so he can beat up Brooks in the room?  🙄

Who has all left? I know Sammy Alvarez left. He was stuck behind Jamison and Williams in the lineup. Now we have Carrol entering the portal. They have brought in this offseason - Hamiti, Hendrickson, Amine, Fish and then Kody Routledge just flipped his commitment from Nebraska to OKSt. I think that Carrol and Cody Merrill are very similar in body type in that they will be big, strong 197 pounders but may struggle with the length issues at heavyweight.

Could be a lot of things in addtion to coaching relationships and even NIL.  Where does he fit in a lineup?  Just a wild guess but not sure 197 over NCAA season is sustainable for him.  MI wonder if he sees more success as a smaller 285 like Feldman and so many others.   Wasn't Snyder better up?  Is Snyder taller than Carroll?

I know you are basically speculating, but i can't help but consider Willie's tweet about how the first thing Taylor needs to do is get rid of the boozers and potheads holding the team back. So I have kept that in mind waiting to see if some guys leave Stillwater. I think the tweet is deleted, unsure. Can't find it now.

Yeah, I was just going for the laugh (thank you @Idaho). I'm all for these guys having the freedom to choose.

As for why he might not have gone to NC, maybe he didn't know how much he liked Coleman Scott. Scott came to him, and it seems like a relationship formed. Good for Carroll. I just find it hilariously un-self aware to talk about loyal and true. As so many of us do, he needs an editor.

I figured he was talking about Thompson since he was caught smoking pot in the bathroom at a wrestling tournament in high school lol.

Did Carroll even know Scott when he was a high schooler?
