If Starocci comes back, I think several guys will have to take a redshirt to make things work out.  Unless anyone wants to transfer out.  I was trying to puzzle it together and the below is the best I could come up with which includes both Kasak and Haines redshirting next year!

125: Braeden Davis / Luke Lilledahl (RS)
133: Aaron Nagao / Mason Gibson (RS)
141: Beau Bartlett / Tyler Kasak (RS)
149: Shane Van Ness / David Evans
157: Mitchell Mesenbrink / Levi Haines (RS)
165: Alex Facundo / Joseph Sealey (RS)
174: Carter Starocci / Terrell Barraclough
184: Josh Barr / Zack Ryder (RS)
197: Connor Mirasola / Lucas Cochran
285: Greg Kerkvliet / Cole Mirasola (RS)

Hard to imagine we will ever see Braeden Davis back at 125 after this year and Levi Haines at 157 (lots of reports he's struggling with the cut.

So then more like this?

125: Luke Lilledahl

157: Mitchell Mesenbrink

184: Josh Barr / Zack Ryder (RS)
197: Connor Mirasola / Lucas Cochran
285: Greg Kerkvliet / Cole Mirasola (RS)

Why do you think Ryder goes 184?

He’s full time at M2/NLWC and just crushed the Mat Town II field at 174.

Maybe?  But, Starrocci is not coming back and Facundo is not going 165

Wrestlestat told me that - that was the only rationale

It doesn't seem like very many guys transfer out of PSU despite having the talent to start at other schools.  I think next year's list is the deepest they have been, so it will be interesting to see what happens next year as well as the. year after.

I was thinking the same - Beard and the Nevilles are the only big name transfers I can think of

Suriano probably the best of the bunch - and then other then those you mentioned, Bubba Jenkins with a steep drop off and then guys like Teske, Verkleeren, Negron, et al

Dual National Championship.  Let Kerkvliet and Starocci choose sides and let'r'rip.

It would be funny to see a Blue vs White intrasquad dual with Kerk and Carter as captains, alternating who picks at each weight.

Yeah forgot about Suriano. Jenkins gets a little bit of an asterisk because it was Caels first year

I'm not so sure Gibson is in the plans to be anything more than a backup/depth guy.

I don’t even see him on the roster. What happened to that guy?

🤦‍♂️

he's a SR in high school.

That’s on me. I thought he had committed to Cornell, then PSU and graduated back in 22/23. These early career commit posts are throwing me off.

Mesenbrink has looked good at 65 this year and facundo didn’t last year…. I’d think mesenbrink would win that spot unless he’s pretty light for the weight

I think that was Erik, who is on the PSU roster and redshirting

What if Starocci doesn’t come back?  Could it go MM at 157, LH at 165, and AF at 174?

Facundo gives Gulibon vibes.

I thought the rumor was Mesenbrink was beating Haines so Mesenbrink chose to go 165 and Haines had to keep making the cut to 157

If true, I’m skeptical he would do it next year then.  But I guess it would make sense if Starocci comes back and they want Facundo in the lineup.

But I could also see Sealey going right away too.

This doesn’t even account for the transfers that will come in. It’s premature to think there’s going to be a logjam because we don’t even have results from NCAAs. History tells us that anyone who isn’t a top 5 or so AA is likely to be replaced by a better recruit or transfer. That’s just how PSU operates-perform or leave.

I don’t see why he is likely to be in the lineup again unless he has made huge strides behind the scenes. Why move Mesenbrink up or down? He’s at the perfect weight for his long term goals.
