I thought we might see Caliendo from the Hawk haters, I guess he annoyed a few when he snubbed Professor Existential.

And that Messenbrink doesn't exist.

Messenbrink may be my favorite wrestler on the Penn St team.  I just wish he'd show up and take his losses like we all expect.

One of the few times the term "pearl clutching" could be used appropriately.

I’m not a Hawk hater but I mentioned Caliendo as a pick of mine. For 3 yrs he has seemed like a good kid, wrestled hard, just in the wrong place at the wrong time and had a buzz saw at his weight. Without MM, he’s maybe a 2x champ. The attempted choke holds during the last final, he’s frustrated, trying anything, wrestlings a rough sport, stuff happens. The handshake snub, not a good look but hardly overshadows what the kid did over 3yrs on the mat at Iowa and a year at North Dakota St.

Good kid, who cares about the handshake, that could go either way. Regarding the side headlock, they were legal - he had the arm and did not go across the windpipe. The ghost of Dave Schultz was disappointed that the first time was blown dead.

It was my first thought, but I have come to appreciate Patrick Kennedy more.  Sure, the action isn't like Caliendo, but the effort is over the top.   His record would be way better in one period 20 minute match.  Watching Kennedy vs. Kharchla may not seem exciting, but I would pay to see it every time.

Joe Melchiore.

Him and a couple other NJ wrestlers stayed with us when we had a NJ/Ohio All Star dual in, '83' or '84'.

Pretty certain we all went to The Rocky Horror Picture Show afterwards.

... back when you could still buy paper newspapers ... don't know how that'd work in the digital era.

so was your least favorite team Iowa or Oklahoma?

My least favorite generally speaking is Iowa, but where Joe is concerned Gable treated him great. There was good reason for Joe to leave Oklahoma for Iowa.
