Ohio State:

125:  Bouzakis/Kikeary

133: Davino

141:  Don't know/McCrone

149: Maddox Shaw

157: Stiles

165: Cannon

174: Birden

184: Fishbach

197: Shumate/Geog

Hvy: Feldman

Things to watch....Transfer at 149.....need another Hvy.  Feldman was overused this season.  Same for Fishbach.  Shaw may be too big for 149.  If Stanich hits the portal, he'd be an ideal pick up.  Same for Crookham.  Based on current roster, Brendan McCrone could emerge as the 141.  Does Ryder Rogotzke hit the portal?  Or Shumate?  Or McCrone?  Or KIlkeary?

I bet Bouzakis goes 41

I'd like top 6 only. I think we have way too many AAs. 25% of every brackets makes AA. There are 80 programs so 10% of all D1 starters make AA. I'd be fine with top 5%, but as it is now, it is watered down.

Ahh idk about that. Like multiple people have mentioned 6th place loses three times as well, but more importantly only the top 10% of every weight class place to begin with. If you wanted to do that then it would probably make more sense to make the national qualifiers more prestigious then. only 7.5% of any weight class can place at nationals by your standard.

Maybe Karson Brown at 141 (won his 4th state title at 138 I believe). Shaw 149. Bouzakis at 125. Davino at 133. Stiles 157. Birden 165. Cannon 174. 184 and 197 work themselves out. I hope Rogotzke (rather throw ya than know ya) can find a place. Feldman 285...

Do you have Cannon and Birden flipped? Or do you think Cannon puts on 20 pounds?

Penn starting lineup only loses 3x AA Composto at 141 to graduation, but should be some new faces due to the return of some grey shirts (including Max Gallagher who had been at 125) and some rising talent that I do not know well.

Likely returns:

149 - 2026 AA Wasilweski

157 - Swisher (2x Round of 12) and looking strong

165 - Seefeldt - National qualifier and looked good

197 - Cosgrove

285 - Pardo

Assuming Max G at 125, expect Mougalian at 133 or 141.   Others in the mix for 133 or 141 could be Motyka, smaller Nate Taylor, Almeyda and young guys I have not seen yet.

174 and 184 - biggest questions with a lot of young recruits and some chance of grey shirts?  In the mix: Bellis, Carlin, Humphries, Stein, Meak, larger Nate Taylor and other guys I have not seen.

Penn qualified 6 for nationals this year and I think they can top that next year and get at least 2 AA's again!  Hopefully even more - but it is a tough tourney.

Cannon has the frame for the Levi diet. Birden does not...

Personally i see it going more like below.
125 - LL Jr
133 - Desmond RSFr
141 - Ono Jr/Sr (dont know official classification but have seen both listed)
149 - SVN Sr
157 - Kasak Jr
165 - MM Sr
174 - Henckel RSFr or Jayden James Fr
184 - Rocco Jr
197 - Barr Jr
285 - Mirasola So

I think that lineup gives the lions the best chance to come back the following 2 years with enough hammers to continue to beat OKSt.

2027

125 - LL Sr (LL could OlyRS and we see one of the Freshman)
133 - Blaze RSSo
141 - Ono Sr (if he has eligibility otherwise Desmond RSSo)
149 - Dalton Perry or Little Cunningham
157 - Kasak Sr
165 - Duke So (Could also OLYRs and fit in Henckel or JJ here)
174 - Henckel RSSo or Jayden James RSFr
184 - Rocco Sr
197 - Barr Sr (Could OLYRs and fit in lil Mirasola)
285 - Mirasola Jr

I like this lineup with EJ at 157, Cardenas - Garvin _ Norman - Posada

If they can at least get portal HWT they will be trophy contenders.

It is nearly impossible at Stanford to bring in transfers due to admissions challenges and lack of easily accessible grad programs.  They are working on it, but it is slow going...

Probably one of the things I am most excited about for next year is that with a lot of the top teams I really do not think we know what the lineups are going to look like without educated guesses.

three teams that will be very good that are not Tech/PSU/OKST/tOSU

Stanford:
125: Provo
133: Knox
141: Consiglio
149: Valencia
157: Parco/Cardenas
165: Cardenas/Garvin
174: Garvin/Norman
184: Norman
197: Posada
285: -
I think bumping Cardeans/garvin/norman to get Parco in is the best fit all around in my opinion Norman is too big for 174 as well.

Cardenas seems like a natural 157 to me, got unlucky on the draw to finish blood round. Think he is a true title contender staying at 57 depending on who is there next year. Parco was great in the tourney, but I think he will be better back down at 149 eventually, maybe in another year if Valencia moves up to 57 when Cardenas leaves.

I like Garvin and Norman better at 65/74. Seen Garvin on a few UNI/ISU/Iowa lineups also, but I think he stays. Was at NCAAs with the team and on the floor celebrating when Aden won. He looks pretty bought in, but you never know in this portal era.

Heavy is the biggest question mark. There are a few 197s that can maybe bulk up and there is a freshman coming in. I'm not sure they have a portal option. The tried and true strategy for the football and basketball teams have been to poach from the Ivys, Mueller maybe? Maybe if Semenenko has a non-Ivy extra year. Mostly just wishful thinking.

Michigan should have a tough team for the next couple years

Posted

North Carolina:

125 Cam Stinson

133 Matt Botello

141 Luke Simcox

149 Jayden Scott

157 Laird Root

165 Bryce Hepner

174 Josh Ogunsanya

184 Jake Dailey

197 Robert Platt

285 Nolan Neves

They had a really young lineup last year, and had a lot of guys get injured, so if it all goes to plan they should be a great team. They might consider a transfer at 125 or 197, which Rob Koll has done a really good job of doing.

165 - Rozynski (RS)/Van Hoven

174 - Ferericci/Dubler

184 - Rylan Rogers

197 - Caden Rogers

285 - N Taylor

Crookham to portal.

Evanitsky/Rozynski will never see 149/157 again, respectively. Rozynski likely RS as he moves up.

174: vast wasteland of unknowns; pray for a portal pickup.

The same Cade Ziola who had 3 losses, two to guys that AJ beat?I doubt that AJ is going back down to 197 when Barr is waiting there and a lot of heavyweight clears out. You can always cut ties with him
