Brock’s weight jump was wildly unexpected, but worked out well for us. I don’t expect most recruits to change size like that, but up or down a weight class seems appropriate, especially after a year of S&C in college. Keeping Jude Correa in the class would have been epic, but couldn’t do it. Walters doesn’t look anything like his recruiting profile from years ago, at minimum need someone to challenge there. Both Mantanonas have wiry frames, could probably hang more meat or just remain lean. Will be interesting to see what happens to the logjam in the middle weights. Current 2027 recruiting momentum is a little meh, but we can worry more later. Might be missing a guy or two here

Brock didn't actually jump in weight.  Both Mantanonas weighed under 180 at Paycom.

For both having wrestled 79 KG (174lbs) for the summer, I don't consider that a jump in weight.

I was referring more to him coming in as a 157/165 pounder and then jumping to the 184 class the following year.

If 125 was an option why would McCrone bother with the portal...

I am surprised to see him in portal. I thought Bouzakis is going 141 since mendez graduated?

I don't believe he can compete at 41. Davino is gonna be back at 33. If he want's to wrestle it'll have to be 25...

I will never understand why NB wasted his time and didn't transfer to be at 133 somewhere else.  If he can make that cut again that's good

after hearing all the rumors about the hard weight cut for bouzakis and his abysmal performance at NCAAs, i would really hope he wouldn't try to make that weight again.

Would have to and should transfer but he won't. You are right.

Because he loves OSU and he was so good at 125 until the end of the season where the cut and whatever else wore him down. I think he could do it again on a pitch count. Free/Greco will be interesting to see where hes at

Good for him if he stays... at the end of the day there are still guys who love their school, coaches and teammates and take personal responsibility for their performance instead of leaving because it's someone else's fault.

Any higher than 61kg is problematic for 125lbs...

If he loves OSU, he could transfer there and back up Spratley, I guess?

But when you were a starter for two years already having to ride the bench or making extreme weight cuts to wrestle is not smart but hopefully he does what's best for him. Now I am interested where Mccrone goes.

Bit of light amongst all the darkness (transfer portal), you love to see stuff like that, but can’t fault kids for wanting to compete, either.

Brendan mccrone is a very Ohio hometown type of kid. He wouldn't be in a transfer portal if there wasn't significant reason for it. I still say Osu did him wrong by placing Bouzakis in his weight class. Whether that played a role or not I don't know but he will be a great pick up I am thinking he will go to Iowa since Dean Peterson graduates.

Iowa does have DeLuca coming off redshirt who came in highly credentialed; I would probably take McCrone over him at this point but they aren't totally vacant there.

Vance Vombaur announces on instagram that he’s back for one more year next season. I’m glad he’ll get 4 years as a starter, but I really hope the Gophers can get both him and Dekraker into the lineup next year somehow.

What makes you not have faith in DeLuca? He owns a win over Marcus Blaze in high school.

I think the only question with Leo is availability. He has been injured often the last few years. Kid is an absolute hammer and I hope that he can stay healthy.
