Is debating this with Iowa haters a useful use of one’s time?

I'm a die hard hawks fan, there is no debate here, recruiting is down. Period. You can be a fan and also be realistic!

I didn’t render an opinion.  I said debating with the haters is a waste of time. This board has a ton of haters.   With that said it is possibly the most over debated subject on here.  There is constantly a thread about it if not 83 of them.

I have heard that Iowa's in the room process isn't as hardnosed as the general public would think, but I imagine it has a lot to do with Tom and Terry's personality not vibing with recruits. They come off as very old school. They are high intensity all the time. Of pretty much any D1 wrestling coach, I would say that Tom and Terry would be about my very lost pick to grab a drink and hang out with. I think the way of approaching wrestling that most of us grew up in is antiquated and, largely thanks to PSU, younger generations have learned that you can make the process more fun and still have success.

I have hung out with Tom and Terry.  They do not drink. At all.  But it was a good time.  Very interesting guys.

Isn't that a good thing though? Before Cael's rise Iowa was THE team. From Big Bertha to the NCAA streaks to the amount of coaches that are Iowa alum, it's clear the influence the program has had in wrestling. Bar None. However, the program is clearly going through some issues adjusting to current wrestling and on top of that you have some very polarizing coaches. A top program that seems to always have something going on is going to be talked about.

Now granted I lurked from the beginning of the season up until recently so I haven't been here that long but I don't remember seeing any Iowa hit pieces to the extent some of you and the other extreme PSU hater's have done. I know multiple times you've said there's a ton of Iowa topics constantly, do you think they're fair criticism or just hate?

Tony Ramos's X/Twitter has been very pro Iowa lately....

Telford out, Ramos in?

It would be great to have Ramos on staff, but I don't have a sense of Tony's relationship with Iowa or Dan Dennis.

Dennis isn’t at Iowa anymore.

Official announcement just came out that Bobby Telford has stepped down. He will be taking on a Sales Representative role with Eastern Iowa Neurosurgical with Stryker.

Best of luck to Bobby with the new career transition!

I think this is an important hire for Iowa. They need a young, big name guy to give a breath of fresh air to their program. I do think TnT are still good coaches, but we’ve seen what a younger big name can do. I think they need an outside hire too. Just helps dispel the myth that they are one dimension “Iowa style” only.

who?

Iowa should hire Nolf! Make him an offer he can't refuse. Give his wife an assistant coaching position on the soccer team.

That would be an excellent hire for them! Doubt it will happen though

I could see it, but I'm willing to bet they are going to bring in a pretty big name. With how many different names were in the rumor pool, it should be interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing kemdawg come back home but it isn't the change that Iowa needs. Kemdawg would be a good replacement for morningstar.

This, Nolf would be the perfect hire.

I don’t think they need to hire anyone. They are at the apex of ncaa wrestling.
