Not nicer.  They have lightweight mats.  No way I would want my kid or athlete training daily on that surface.  Easy way to ruin knees and shoulders.  I could understand HS programs needing to use these surfaces, but NO WAY any college should even consider these for daily practice.  Perfectly fine for a 7 minute match, but after drilling 100 double legs on that surface and you want to give up wrestling.

How can you tell? I thought it was supposed to hurt like concrete until you warm it up, and then it’s a little more like dirt…

Never even heard of the school...

It's a member of the Texas A&M University system in Stephenville, Texas, about 90 miles southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. They have recently (in the last couple of years) finished their transition from Division II to Division I, and will be (as of July 2026) all-sports members of the United Athletic Conference, and would have a nice natural rivalry in that regard with Little Rock.

UAA?  That’s Wac…

They're rebranding from the Western Athletic Conference to the United Athletic Conference on July 1, 2026.

The United Athletic Conference currently is only for football and has school like East Kentucky, Austin Peay, and North Alabama in it. No UA-Little Rock. In fact Little Rock is a member of the Ohio Valley Conf. So now I am confused, is the WAC becoming the UAC? If so, would they be merging the 2 together for everything or just football?

However, this is wrestling and I do believe TSU would be best fit to join the PAC 12, especially with the additions of SDSU and NDSU, and having UA-LR real close to cut down on travel.

That is a 6 hour drive.

The WAC is rebranding as the UAC. As far as Little Rock being a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, that's true...for now. They move to the UAC on July 1st.

Six hours won't even get you out of Texas will it...

Depending on where you start in Texas. From Dallas to El Paso it is just over 9 hours, and a time change. That's right, going to El Paso you enter into the Mountain Time Zone. Houston to El Paso is 10.5 hours. So yeah, it's a big place.

Rotten if true - why invest in a facility and everything else but then not go through with it?

So I'm supposed to believe that a program that just won the female NCWA national championship, came in second for the men's NCWA national championship and just built a 10,000 sqft $1.2 million dollar facility just decided to shut everything down? Yea, ok...
