I suspect it comes from the philosophy that is drilled into them from a young age that it’s best to let your wrestling do the talking on the mat rather than talk a lot off the mat. It probably is ok for wrestling but perhaps less so for mma etc where hyping things up is conducive to the excitement around match and financial benefits.

I think — though I’m not sure — that Yazdani himself has never said he won’t wrestle at 86kg anymore — that seems to have come from the national team coaches. All he’s said is that, after his surgery, his doctor advised him not to cut weight anymore. I still believe Yazdani plans to stay at 86kg, at least for the upcoming Olympics. Honestly, my confusion mostly comes from Yazdani’s usual vague way of speaking. He always has this cautious self-censorship — which seems like a contagious condition a lot of people have caught. The only Iranian wrestler I know who actually says things you can make sense of is Amir Mohammad Yazdani. The rest of them just stick to the same old clichés every time they talk.

When will the wrestling community admit there's a problem?
wrestle87 replied to Tripnsweep's topic in College Wrestling
This is the most tired and trite of simultaneously defeatest and enabling comments you can make. It’s a wrestling specific issue in that this is a wrestling forum and we are talking about wrestling, and we care about the continued health and safety of the sport, and all athletes therein. The excessively physical nature of the sport needn’t be expounded upon, but respecting and protecting the physical wellbeing of your opponents is a fundamental tenet of the sport in a way that is extremely rare in sport. I’m pretty sure that is self-evident though. -

how is that a wrestling specific issue? It sounds like the problem is "power hierarchies don't function perfectly", well welcome to earth. -

They’re all *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me*ty, sex-based or sex-adjacent issues of power dynamics, all of which got covered up, swept under the rug, or otherwise ignored or minimized by other responsible adults, oftentimes for years even decades. The issue is that many of the people who were committing these acts, hiding these messes, or sidestepping responsibility for being a responsible adult are people who have been lionized as a considerable part of modern wrestling lore. That is all the same issue, and it is not a small one. The fact that in the span of a month Snyder’s situation went from “oh nooo bad bad bad” to “[shoulder shrug] eh, not much to write home about all things considered” is the big whiplash aspect of this. -

What’s the Best Piece of Advice You’ve Ever Received?
Undefeated replied to jross's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
That’s right. Thanks for pointing that out — I realized I’d translated it wrong. The correct translation (which was done by James Ross back in 1890 and I found it here) is: Which, of course, is part of a longer sentence. The full sentence is: -
The Big Fat Ugly Bill that the president (of similar proportions) signed today includes allocating $85 million to move the Discovery Space Shuttle from the Smithsonian to Texas - and to construct a facility to house it. No wonder Elon is mad as a hatter. Let's do the math. He had to fire the equivalent of some 100,000 people to regain 10 years of their combined future salary to generate this much money. Money that he thought was intended to be used to pay down the US debt. Elon was simply conned. There was never any intention of paying down the debt by the Trump administration. It was always about giving the ultra-wealthy, who funded Trump's campaigns, the biggest tax cuts in history. While increasing taxes on the low to middle income groups. All while increasing the US deficit by trillions of dollars over the next decade. So much for paying down the debt. We're going in the opposite direction of that. And Musk is, understandably, PO'd.

I wonder - does wrestlestat even take into account free style matches? I would guess maybe not. But maybe it gives you a little extra credit for having a world or olympic qualification or title. I'm just guessing.

The thing about the English language is that so many words can be used in so many different ways. Kind of interesting really. Ever played the NYT Connections game to sharpen your mind? I recommend it. In any case, you seem to have forgotten what happened. You seem to rely on projection to offset your bad memory. Keep doing it if you like. But it is important for you to realize what it is you're doing. It can be mentally unhealthy.

They know it's gonna be a huge problem, based upon what's occurred at state level. That's why it doesn't kick in until 2028.

Just hand it out. No questions asked. No fraud here.

Has there been any mention of how much these guys are getting paid? Considering the names they have, it’s got to be pretty significant. Which unfortunately means IMO there is zero chance it brings in more revenue than costs

Any potential title threats in this group of freshman? Obviously Ferrari, but what about davino, valencia and sinclair? Anyone think they have potential to win as freshman? Anyone else have a shot to win?

Make the "proof" very easy and hire people that can help them. Many of these people are on medicaid due in part to cognitive problems.

Sure they are. Lots of people will get cut off because they don't conplete the paperwork properly or on time. It happened at the state level every time a state had similar requirements.

No one is getting screwed boss.

I care about other people that are getting screwed by losing medicaid (which im not on) and that we are borrowing massive amounts of money to give billionaires tax breaks. If that doesn't bother you, you're a reptile. I'm fine myself.
