Regardless of someone's educational background, if they argue scientific theories shouldn't be taught because they are not "facts", they are either an idiot or have these ulterior motives.

That's obviously what should happen, but it's not uncommon for calls to be waived off. See it on takedown a lot. The refs seem to anticipate what's going to happen and make the call a hair early. Sometimes it's the wrong call. Doesn't make it right, but I'm sure it's an easy mistake to make.

Yep. I don't think a defensive fall is going to be called there very often. Renteria was off to the side just enough that the ref was locked on him and not looking at DeAugustino's shoulders at all. Unless you've got a really jumpy ref, the top guy is going to have to be held there pretty solidly, not flopping around.
