What would be the point of democrats doing that? I'm not saying it wouldn't happen, but the republicans made fools of themselves this past week and there would be no benefit to the democrats to join in. It would just make them look bad and accomplish nothing as anything the house passes can get blocked by the senate, anyways. The republican holdouts wanted it to continue their power trip and keep McCarthy's balls (if he has any) in a vice. There's no such benefit for democrats in this scenario.

Sammy Alvarez: continued trouble with weight
Crotalus replied to flyingcement's topic in College Wrestling
Gotta love the threat of no longer being on the team when you struggle to cut an unhealthy amount of weight. At some point, the coaches should tell a kid like this they have to bump up and take their chances at a higher weight. It may leave a hole in the lineup, but reducing health risks to these kids is more important. -
Watch any of the many strongman daily diet videos to see what it looks like. I, for one, don't believe it. It would be nearly impossible to sustain that kind of diet daily. Phelps could do it because he swam for hours on end. The strongmen can do it because they are juiced up and spend half the day in the gym. And even then they struggle more with eating that many calories than anything else they do. No doubt Hilger was eating an incredible amount of food to gain that much weight, but 12,000 calories everyday is an exaggeration.

Trump announces he is running for Prez again
Crotalus replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
You're really choosing to die on this semantical hill? You believe he should be given credit for paying hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in taxes even though he got almost all of it back? And potentially using legally questionable means in order to do so? -
Yet it's the one area of our national budget that is deemed untouchable. Often argued defense spending needs to be increased without any justification other than it means you love American more than the other guy.
-
He'll blow his knee out. Also, he doesn't have any more name recognition than Bo did outside of the wrestling world, and at this point, much less name recognition in the MMA world.
-
I can't imagine what a shitshow it would be if that angry little leprechaun was in charge.

But what is "unquestionable guilt"? It's not hard to cherry pick a few cases, but how to you write the law to ensures this definition is applied equally, fairly, and never against an innocent person? The legal standard for guilt is "beyond a reasonable doubt", and we know that innocent people are convicted and even put to death on rare occasion, so how are you defining the line where "beyond reasonable doubt" turns to "unquestionable guilt"? And on top of that you want to streamline the process to make it cost effective over life in prison? You don't think that would increase the chance of a mistake? If you can write a law that makes capital punishment cheaper, with 0% error, and can't be abused, I'll hop on board. But I think it'll be a lot more difficult than looking at a few cases and saying "that one fits".

Trump announces he is running for Prez again
Crotalus replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
It doesn't matter. Those on the right think Biden winning is worse than what happened on Jan. 6th. It's a shoulder shrug rather than a dark day in our nation's history. They could likely win the presidency in 2024 if they rid themselves of him and picked a reasonable candidate, but all too many of them are ready to stick their noses back under his flabby butt cheeks. Hanging back just far enough to hop on another bandwagon if it's politically beneficial. -
He just made a comment in an interview I saw somewhere where he talked about how his hamstrings allowed him to do things most people wouldn't be able to do with a torn ACL. The word "special" was mine. I'm sure a lot of wrestlers would fall into that category. We know Yianni won with a torn ACL and Kerk is currently wrestling with a torn ACL. Also, here's a doctor's perspective: https://youtu.be/p0J91XXv6yg
-
Yes, both at once and had a previous ACL repair on one limb. He talked about having special hamstrings allowing him to wrestle without ACLs, but his joints seem as stable as an Ikea bookshelf. They'll hold as long as he doesn't move them.
-
Two repaired knees..... remains to be seen how good they are or how long they can last. His knees are now held together by parts of his other tendons, dead guy tendons, or something artificial.

Do these guys not want to compete? And do they need some sort of extra inventive incentive to AA? I would think this is just coaches decision, rather than some sort of reward. Disappointing either way. The college season has become a joke.

You guys have been addressing the big tech election impact in another thread. I'm more concerned with foreign government interference, much of which happens on social media, and requires some sort of censorship of misinformation on those platforms. As I said, fraud has occurred in every US election ever. I don't believe fraud at a level that would impact the results of the election has happened any time in the recent past. With no evidence of such, claiming it is a possibility is just being a sore loser (didn't expect any better out of Trump). It's much more likely that folks didn't want four more years of Trump than there was a nationwide conspiracy to commit election fraud at a level that would cause him to lose so badly without any (legitimate) evidence left behind.
-
I think this scenario makes sense. But if Lee didn't want to wrestle Ayala, he could have forfeited himself. If Ayala didn't want to be told to forfiet, I respect that. Given his injury history and ongoing recovery, I not surprised he would do much if any live wrestling in the room. Probably spends most of his time in PT and doing low impact cardio. Parents should stay off social media. They and never going to make anything better that way.
-
OK, most of those don't address election fraud. But here are the ones I'd like more info about. 1. Which laws are you referring to? If it's early voting and mail in voting, then I don't care. It is clear that one party benefits from, and strives for, making voting less accessible. 2. These claims are verifiable if true. The claims I saw were false (Trump lawyers admitted so in court relating to MI and PA), as observers from both parties were allowed according to law. Republican intimidation attempts at ballot drop off and early voting locations were blocked at some, but not all locations, however. 3. This would also be verifiable if true. Slight errors happen in every election, hence recounts in close races, but I've seen no evidence of result altering anomalies.
-
Probable is a strong word for theories that have no evidence, making them impossible to verify and equal impossible to disprove. If you tell me about a UFO encounter you had, I won't believe you, but I also can't disprove it. But I'm interested in any of the theories out there that you deem "probable" that could have had election result altering impacts. Not sure why/how you changed the author of my comment to Bernie. He shouldn't be blamed for any of my ramblings. Also, while we can't be sure everything from the Jan. 6 committee is 100% true, they are releasing the testimony and documents to back up the conclusions they have made.
-
I can guarantee you one thing, you are not getting the truth from Trump. If he had anything beyond insane conspiracy theories, we'd know about it and he wouldn't have been begging AGs to "find" votes for him.

Eierman - Olympic Cycle Then MMA
Crotalus replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
They were at least more well rounded than Askren was. His ability to take down and control his opponents allowed him to hide his deficiencies, which he never felt the need to improve on. He was certainly past his prime when he finally got a shot in the UFC, but that knee would have caught him regardless. Even a past prime Lawler was able to hurt him pretty good. I believe he would have been a contender in the UFC, but the higher level competition would have been able to expose his deficiencies, so it's hard to say whether he was better or not. Yeah, that's par for the course. I'm excited to see him give MMA a go. I was 2-0 in HS against a future UFC fighter, but if he punched me in the face I'd fold like a cheap suit. -
Eierman - Olympic Cycle Then MMA
Crotalus replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in International Wrestling
Yeah, it's tough to make an informed prediction on how he will transition to MMA. We have no knowledge of any training in striking or submission grappling. And while he was a better folkstyle wrestler than Chandler and Woodley, he has a very unconventional style that doesn't lend itself to MAA (if he leaves his face out there like he does his right leg in wrestling, it won't work out so well). Plus those two guys are/were better at MMA than they were are wrestling. Askren was a far better wrestler than all of them, but I would say Woodley and Chandler are/were better fighters than Askren. High level wrestling success doesn't seem to be any stronger of a predictor of MMA success than a solid wrestling background. -
Trump announces he is running for Prez again
Crotalus replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
It's rather complex and most of us have little actual legal knowledge, so wouldn't be surprising for someone to stumble over that facts. But that doesn't mean that nothing potentially illegal happened. Above is a video to clear it up for you. It's absurd that some folks can just shrug their shoulders over what happened in Jan. 6th as well as Trump's actions leading up to it. -
Aaron Brooks was 100% pinned by Marcus Coleman

In John Madden voice: "Well, you see, he won by scoring more points than his opponent did." -
Lee had both knees done, and has had one done before. Using Yianni as any kind of baseline for Lee's recovery and what his season should look like competition-wise this year would be ridiculous.

I've seen bumper/window stickers on lifted pickups with 8" exhaust pipes sticking vertically out of the bed, spewing black smoke that indicate some conservatives feel that way. They aren't the type with the mental capacity to make arguments re the environmental impact or benefits of electric vs petroleum, however.
