  1. No...I assure you, I AM really surprised there aren't more B1G schools following Iowa's lead. Why do you think it's a "circus" though?
  2. Yianni said he Wrestled looser this tournament due to some family issues(everything was fine though). But it seemed like he wrestled a bit tighter. Van Ness wrestled out of his mind and had a great tourney, but I was surprised to see him on the ropes so many times.
  3. That could be good for the sport. Help it grow. I'm a little surprised there aren't more B1G schools in the process of starting a program. It IS possible to make just one thread not about you...right? Why don't we just let this be that thread.
  4. Messenbrink... They definitely look like they're going to be up there with PSU, Cornell, Iowa and then after those 4, I'd say ASU and ISU(maybe Neb).
  5. Eh...that was a good one. It was a sloppy shot from distance late as well, wasn't it? I think Gomez likely loses to Sasso. What about Murin vs Yianni? Anyone else think Murin maybe should have gotten NF there...outside of Iowa fans(I'm pretty sure I know your position).
  6. Yeah, but the argument was specifically they'd take Angelo alone, and if it meant the other 2, they wouldn't. Then Ionel came back and suggested that he's similar to his brothers based on his actions on the Mat...which is just ridiculous in my opinion.
  7. Yeah, but it's kinda valid since the topic was literally transfers. I'd say Kerk is different since he never actually wrestled anywhere else, but citing him isn't a whataboutism. Also, arguing PSU wouldn't be on top without the portal is nonsense. I said before the year-and took a ton of shit for it-that I thougth PSU was better off sticking with Beard...and I still believe that. He was a 5th seed, he lost a 7-6 match to Braunagel and then a 4-2 match to Truax, the #2 seed on the backhalf. But they won by more than what Kerk and Dean provided. MAYBE last year Michigan beats them without the two...but I doubt it.
  8. I don't care if he flexes on the mat. There is a MASSIVE chasm between flexing on the mat and felonious sexual assault. I haven't heard anything bad about Angelo and if his brother wasn't AJ Ferrari, nobody would give it a second thought. I don't like the guilt by association or the Sins of the Brother, however you'd like to put it. Angelo seems solid as far as I know.
  9. I thought RBY went out and finished that match like a Champ. I wouldn't compare him and Kerk-at all. Kerk looked like he was resigned to 2nd place...which is weird because he's beaten Parris several times and an athlete like Kerkvliet, he was capable of beating Parris. Obviously Parris was outstanding, but Kerk just looked broken. BTW, what's HEW stand for? I mean, in this context? I've seen it several other uses, but...it doesn't make sense here.
  10. No, it was not. A stalling was awarded in the final ~5 seconds to tie the score up at 3, but O'Conner had RT. Again, no, the escape was not given. A stalling call was given. If they'd have called the escape, there's no chance they could have overruled it on the mat. I was watching it on ESPN, so it's possible the timer was off...but I'm skeptical it was 2 seconds off...and he kicks out with 2 seconds, hits the mat at ~1 and is up and facing before you the clock is at 0...on ESPN. So it's possible that was the issue, but again, you can hear the refs and they said they can't see the time.
  11. Ok, then I guess put it on the refs. They had the one angle on their matside camera, they had 6 angles upstairs. You can hear the ref on the TV say he can't see the clock, he looks at the other ref and I believe he says, "no escape," and the other ref says, "ok." So maybe not on LeHigh, but they blew that call. I guess I wasn't aware that the refs double checking constituted an 'official review,' and if that is the criteria, they should send it up to get the best view. They were obviously not trying to delay the match as it was literally over at that point. EITHER WAY...I think Humphreys got screwed there(with the lone caveat that it's possible the TV timer was not perfect, but I still believe in a match to determine who goes to the semi's, it should be decided up top).
  12. Seems like a silly task IMO, but Askren has said he thinks he will go 174 at some point. Well...he's 3 years in, so some point is coming pretty quickly. I do not see him beating Starocci. He's just too fundamentally sound and he's a big '74, but it'd certainly be an interesting match.
  13. LOL...yup, that's about what I thought!
  14. Yeah, cool. ANOTHER Gif. Why don't you break it down for us? He should have played up the injury the next day like it was a WWE event because that's what he'd have done if he was in public relations! He'd have limped to the mat like he was in SOO much pain they were all saying, "no Spencer, it's not worth it!" And he'd have pulled up his straps...struggling to do so and gritted it out so the public perception was different! Cool story. Silly...kinda nonsense. Uncle Chael CLEARLY missed the mark here. And that's without all the silly nonsense that he just got factually wrong. But hey, the important thing here is....well, you know Chael and you love Gifs!!!
  15. LOL...cool! I probably should remember having never wrestled, you might be in awe being around someone who's well known for Wrestling. That actually IS a good point. Beyond that, I guess yes, once I make it past adolescence, I'll understand why someone actually had to point out that Chael's personna when promoting a fight is NOT actually who he is! Next you'll tell me he actually DID lose in the UFC and the whole "Undefeated, never lost a round," schtick is part of that persona! Here's the thing LBJ...I understand why HE'S got a schtick. It made a guy who didn't have the greatest UFC career--very good, not an all-time great--one of the BIGGEST stars in the sport. What I DON'T get is your little schtick? You gonna parlay this into a super successful podcast or some type of endorsement deal through intermat? Yeah, yeah, you're still rooting for me. I got it!
  16. I'd lean Parris on #7 and not just lean Parris on #6, but that's a big edge. Starocci may have the better case for it, but man, his arrogance is annoying. Saying because the UFC Champ was a D2 Champ, that's "beginners stuff where he comes from?" That it'd be "easy." The first may be true, the second is not and is asinine. He's crossed over from swagger and a little arrogance, but mostly supreme confidence to making some kinda silly comments.
  17. LeHigh NOT throwing the challenge brick when Humphreys was CLEARLY out and earned an escape with time left on the clock in the Semi's vs Auston O'Conner in what would have tied the match up.
  18. From what I've heard, this sounds more like the Jordan Holm situation.
  19. The middle brother and getting into a fight is one thing. Sexual assault? Whole other thing. And I know it's asinine, ignorant and I'm putting absolutely no weight behind this, but he does strike me as the type of guy who'd just assume a girl wanted him and push and not be a big fan of the word no. But that's a very biased take, lets allow the courts to figure it out.
  20. Dude, I was joking. Probably in poor taste. He DID give a great interview compared to most and he did articulate his thoughts well. They are usually boring cliches. Even worse right after a guy gets done wrestling. I thought it was funny, how he was self deprecating, all of it. I was...100% kidding and in agreement with you.
  21. LOL...that tracks. I remember camping with my Cousins when I was a kid...and my Uncle was trying to put this fan together. I don't know what made it difficult...it was a fan. But this was also when I was like...5 or 6(so nearly 30 years ago now). He just took a wrench maybe...and just started beating the hell out of that fan...pieces flying and I just remember him saying, "why me," all prompted by his wife nagging the hell out of him complaining about how hot it was. We still tell that story. So yeah, Spencer's mom losing her shit and breaking her glasses...I can understand that. It may turn into a Meme, but I get it. It was usually just as bad for my family when I lost as it was for me in retrospect...and I'm sure that's the case for everyone. Now Spencer's Mom was an elite athlete herself and hyper competitive, so can't throw any shade her way for that!
  22. C'mon...you know EXACTLY what he's saying. Watch some of the Basketball being played. I just watched a game, player left, sideline reporter said it was a thumb injury. That doesn't require an MRI to determine if there were torn ligaments or a broken thumb, it was a general injury. Or, any other sport. "Marvin Harrison Jr injured his left leg, he's going to try to give it a go in the 2nd half," or "he's doubtful to return," whatever. It doesn't require a full medical diagnosis as he said. Finding out down the road when there aren't millions(potentially) or people talking about it/watching it...is NOT the same. It was a trending topic on Twitter(both the loss and the MFF Saturday Morning).
  23. Ok, should have read through all the posts. Seems like my issues were all addressed. I like Chael, his fight commentary is good...or at least it seems like it for someone who's not a huge MMA fan and doesn't follow all the details, but this was just such...nonsense. He is right about the regrets. No matter what, you've got 'em. Win 1, you should have won a 2nd. Short of that, I don't think there's anything else I agreed with in there.
  24. This was kinda ridiculous. Not as bad as the first time I listened and I thought he was saying he was limping so bad the refs had to ask if he could wrestle...but it's almost more ridiculous he wants to make this a big PR thing and MAKE that the narrative. Lee was fine. Maybe he had a little injury, but it's not as bad as he's been. I should ask first, was he actually "favored" to win the Olympics in '20...which ended up being '21 and coming up? Who picks the favorites? I didn't think he was likely to go straight from College to HS and immediately dominate. He's great because of how good he is on top. You don't get nearly as much time to turn people in Freestyle. Clearly he'd have been a contender, but the Olympic favorite and #1 in the Olympic rankings? I don't know he's wrong there, but that feels wrong. Now, ESPN paid for this and a big part of this was Spencer Lee? LOL...did they? Was it really? Did they pay one penny more for Spencer Lee this year than last year when he wasn't Wrestling? They've had the rights for how long now? They made him the main event? That's silly. Second, he just compared this to LeBron James, right? I like Basketball...I know this isn't allowed for a Wrestler, but I'm still a big fan. You hear of "Load Management?" The best teams will routinely sit their stars for random games for no reason other than they dont' want them to get hurt. That people don't Wrestleback has absolutely NOTHING to do with why Wrestling isn't mainstream. It's also not an issue the NCAA has...meaning the D1s. It's rare and it's usually when someone has a legitimate injury. If he was talking about the Conference Tournaments, more legit. Not clue about Oregon state tourney, but it's not an issue at most state tournaments. Maybe he's on to something with regard to the MFFs on the backside. I think it's a bad idea and that most guys at the D1s compete out of respect and...because it's important. So as I said, rare. Mekhi Lewis in '21 rare. A legit injury. And what type of injuries are we punishing? Concussions? Would those be exempt? How about if you get injured while wrestling then? I doubt that's going to go over well. In Conference, you should probably count it as a loss so it impacts seeding, but that's not what we're talking about here. Finally, REPEATEDLY calling him a "little boy" is...ridiculous. I think he's 24 years old. Maybe even 25. He was a boy in 2015. He's a grown man now.
