Well... yeah. She's an *Olympic silver medalist. There still seems to be people(I think a minority) who don't understand how important it is for the sport as a whole to see Women's Wrestling thrive.

Yeah, he's not very offensive, but... overrated? I don't know. I can't WAIT to hear @Caveirarespond to how "C-stall" wasn't aggressive, but then rationalize Ferrari! But beyond that, I don't see how you say he's overrated. He's beaten Sinclair. That alone means he's not overrated in MY opinion, but then Sinclair beats McEnelly who looked as good as anyone coming back from last year(who didn't win it at least). I guess he MAY be overrated at #1 since I think he's got a good chance of getting knocked off if he keeps Wrestling so passively, BUT... he's as good as anyone at maybe the toughest weight(though I'd say '33 is better).

So what happened? Did they just randomly disappear one day? I wasn't on here for ~3 weeks, came back... gone. Now I have to write clown for Jimmy(most of those who go by Jimmy on here)... why? Were people really getting their feelings hurt over reactions?

125-Lillendahl (IDC about the loss to his teammate, Facundo did something similar and Lillendahl was teammates with Nasedo going back to Wyominc Sem) 133-Crookham 141-Mendez 149-SVN-But I don't feel great. 157-Duke-I do feel great 165-MM-Even stronger 174-Hanes-Just as strong 184-Sinclair- What the hell, I've said it since he was in HS, not bailing now... but it feels wrong to bet against McEnelly. Less so Ferrari, though... obviously he's elite. I'm still just thinking how tough 184 is and I don't know if he wins 5 matches unless he can get more offensive... though AJ did it, Starroci did it as a Freshmen(and did it at the NCAAs, but he was always in control). You could give me a chance to pick 4 guys here and I may be wrong... but I think it's Sinclair, McEnelly, Ferrari and Welsh, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Rhyder get in the mix. 197-Barr HWT-Trumble

We didn't get to see it, so most of us are just going off the favorites. History tells us, especially with that group where we say Kollin Moore likely wins or Pletcher or Lugo... that we're probably wrong abotu 5-6 of them, but they didn't get a shot. So I'll go with the regular season Champ. That's Lugo. I mean, would anyone have been shocked to see RBY or Lee win it? No... but we don't talk about them(they also got their 4 years so we don't need to).

1-When I read this thread, the ONLY way I thought I'd take it seriously is if the argument was that Dan Gable set the bar too high. I mean... what PSU is doing isn't new, Iowa did it with Gable. So I thought THAT was where they were going. But... it's not a terrible take. The Brands idea is to just keep running into that brick wall until the wall falls down. I think there is a certain type of kid that benefits from that a LOT. I think a kid who has a ton of tools but maybe hasn't had to work on his conditioning or mental toughness, that'd be great(if they buy in). Problem is Iowa mostly just recruits guys who already Wrestle their style and... it's a little tougher for THEM to elevate those Wrestlers. The guys who will stand in there and battle, but they don't open up and don't have a go-to shot to score. Gabe Arnold is one, Alex Marinelli or... there have been a few. 2-I totally get why people are going to Iowa. I mean, Oklahoma State wasn't exactly a powerhouse anymore recent than Iowa and people understand the gravity of Oklahoma State Wrestling. It's like Alabama Football before Saban came back. People still knew it was a Blue Blood program, they just needed someone who could bring in some new blood. The "Blue Bloods," to me are now Penn State, Iowa, Okie State, Ohio State and then the next group it's Cornell, Michigan, ASU's, Minnesota, there are others, but I'm not going to make a comprehensive list. I really believe Iowa needs to find a way to get guys to open up more. I mean, they have Caliendo, he does it. Ferrari is such a stud and has such great defense, but he's more typical of how a lot of really GOOD Iowa Wrestlers have Wrestled for a while. Physical, defensive, not as much attacking. Still a top 2-3 program, so... the question is only how to beat PSU and now OSU(pick one).

I'm not sure how you can say this and then go back to a Freestyle match where Jax won. No, I'm not hung up on Jax Marcus match at Trials(though... again, I don't know how you can cite Jax winning 10-1 and then dismiss that). I'm simply using Blaze's incredible defense, plus his re-attacks and wondering... how the hell you have 1-7 for HIM for 1-4 for a kid who right now is at Bishop McCort and MIGHT could be Wrestling the 2nd half? If you throw Jax out there right now... I swing towards Blaze, but lets say they've both been with their respective schools and getting ready(I can't imagine how difficult it'd be for a Freshmen to start at Semester and then be expected to compete for a NC, but lets ignore ALL those external factors like... LIFE as well and just pretend like he's only gotta shot up at Wrestling events). There's no valid reason to think Blaze looses to Fugit or whoever but Jax doesn't. The way you also brought in Gross here was... out of left field. You don't see a world in which Seth Gross beats Jax, but since he beat Blaze...? I see EVERY world in which Gross beats Jax. That match could go either way. Less so as time goes by, but... it'd hardly be some shocking upset. It's Gross. He could get be down 9-0 and come back and win it 19-9. I have NO clue. He's I mean no disrespect here Truzzcat. I enjoy your posts and insights, but I think you're REALLY reaching on these predictions.

...why not go 174? Duke has the frame to go '74. He's sucking down, but he could go '74 or '65 with MM bumping up. And then '84 you have Welsh, '97 Barr... this is honestly, with respect Le duke and PSU fans, but this is why I'm kinda happy with Okie State and now Va Tech really pulling in the recruits. It shouldn't even be within reason that you could go 125-197 and have a pretty good chance to have a chance for each weight to win and to be the favorites at several. Anyway, I do think Davino CAN beat Blaze. They're both so good, it wouldn't be a huge upset IMO. I do NOT understand how you can put down the range of outcomes at 1-7 for Blaze and 1-4 for Davino though. If anything, I think Blaze is going to lose to FEWER people because his defense is so insane for a True Freshmen.

I agree, but I don't think that necessarily means HE peaked. I think 133 just got STACKED real quickly. Crookham is a stud and then there are so many others(the defending National Champ among them). You can have worse results without... actually getting worse as an athlete. Especially no with these kids coming up. It felt like in the past you worked your way up. RD12, 6th, 3rd, NC, progressively better. Now you have Knox, Blaze, Davino, all these kids who are just as good as anyone(other than Crookham IMO). That's... before you take a guy like Ono... who could be Wrestling in this weight, but isn't.

I was SHOCKED he was able to gut that out. He was gassing in the 2nd. I'm also pretty skeptical of that 3-2 exchange earlier in the match. Very impressed with Lockett though. Caliendo is one of those guys who just breaks Wrestlers. Pretty much the only guy who has been able to go attack for attack with Mesenbrink. Kinda funny he was called. Pretty amazing he ate that shot and Lockett didn't score on that early TD. Lockett is legit, but I think he gets called for a couple stalling in March. He definitely got the final TD though.

I think most fans agree with that, but there's some nuance. If you're pulling your arm back AND attacking... so they're not getting a two on one or a particular tie, fine. Same with Wrestling on a knee. There are plenty of guys who go down to a knee and are almost in a sprinters stance. Burroughs is in that type of position quite a bit, Dake. Early in the season, but Ferrari has to increase that attack rate or... I don't think he'll beat March McEnelly or Sinclair(or... rather he won't win 5 in a row, he may be either one, but... it's tough to win a tournament like that). He certainly could. His Brother did it. I think '84 is much better than '97 when AJ won it.

What do you suppose is a "low lows" for Davino? And why wouldn't Blaze also have those "low lows?"

This is what I had it...if you flipped McEnelly and Ferrari(and Ryder and Fishback). I thought Sinclair could be an NC this year...at least had that potential, but... I'm still a little surprised he took McEnelly down so... cleanly. I knew Ferrari was a stud, but I had him 3rd. This is such a talented young weight... I think the top 4 guys are pretty clearly cut favorites now. I also think McEnelly will look sharper as the year goes on(obviously). Not sure Ferrari can win with his current level of offense vs Sinclair and McEnelly, but I'm sure he'll get sharper and more offensive as the year goes as well. I honestly have no clue how Welsch shakes up at '84 at this point. Probably...SV with Ferrari and no clue if he beats Sinclair or McEnelly.

No, I didn't. You Penn State folks(a couple of you) are so hyper sensitive these days that you read into everything. I'm SAYING he's behind TWO Wrestlers who'd be favorites for an NCAA Title and if he went to another school... and I was going to say a Cornell type school but I deleted that because I didn't want to argue about a hypothetical or about how Shapiro is at '57, but if he went somewhere else, a school that develops Wrestlers(Nebraska was my next guess, but... then they've got a solid '57 as well, don't they), I think he'd do well. So... whine about how you read my inferences despite EVERYTHING I've said about PSU. Just said I think they'll have 6 champs and 2 others with a chance... but you didn't choose to be offended about that... did you? I'm guessing you could "take me seriously" Funny you omit this part. Maybe. He was expected to be a stud right out of the gate. If he went to a... hell, I don't know, a school that develops Wrestlers, he could still be a kid who I think would be top 5. It doesn't help when you have the likely #1 and #2 in your own room. But... whatever. Put him in good program and I think he'd be fine.

Cael has said the National Duels are good for the sport. He's also said growing the sport isn't his job. That seems like the end of the conversation to me. Anecdotally seeing empty seats. Kinda sounds like you wouldn't if PSU was Wrestling there, taking on OSU... Penn State drew a lot of fans and how many people watched the far more recent duels is of little consequence to me. Would College Wrestling bet better off having Cael and PSU at the National Duels? The answer is obviously Yes. Does Cael believe it's his responsibility(obviously in part, not as a whole, but PART of his responsibility to grow the sport)? No... because he said as much. That's all I'm going to discuss. Not OU-PSU viewership...

He Wrestled the U20, U23 and the Sr World Championships... He traveled and put in a bit more time than Blaze. Plus, wasn't Sealey a U20 World Champ? How many guys have a Sealey as their #3/#4? I mean, technically he's their #2 with Ty Watson as their #3 since PJ Duke is ranked like 227th, but I have him in the top 40 at least, maybe top 30. I have a feeling he's going to out-perform that 227 ranking.

I can see this logic. I don't agree, but it makes sense. What I am annoyed with is the "It's not Cael's job to grow the sport," as a rationale for why they're not there. How is it not? He runs the top program in the sport, the top RTC is at his school... the sport needs advocates like him. Everytime I hear that, he's diminished... just a bit... IMO. Gable didn't have that opinion and he was probably more fanatical about wanting to dominate every one. But this silly "duel rankings," it's a typical Jimmy idea. It would have zero practical impact.

Yeah, Crookham is a massive obstacle(though what 4X champ doesn't have one). I do not see the same type of obstacle in Duke's path. No clear cut #1.

He was big, but he was never that tall. I didn't think '57 was that big of a cut for young Dierringer. He's the guy in that group that just doesn't seem like the others. Ryan Deakin on the other hand, if he came out at 184, I'd think he was a bit lean, but still... a solid build at '84... and he's Wrestling...what 154 and then '57.

Anywhere to watch it? I've been so busy, I've missed all the early season Wrestling.
