What you say makes a lot of sense, yes. The problem is thinking about it as if they are student-athletes. That is what is commonly sold to us, the consumer. The truth and reality if it is that they are financial assets and every college is a business, often times a state run one. Ergo, if money is to be made, they will try to make more of it. The lesser time (years) the kids have in school with less time exploiting their name, image, likeness, and athletic prowess then that means the less peak profit they stand to have.

Gomez has hips for days and skill to follow but he isn't a proper 149lber. Andonian showed that last year... Johnson is a solid, properly sized 149lber. I did not expect it, either, but I am not exactly surprised he got horsed a bit.

Some of my anticipation was culled when he ran out of gas at the wrestleoffs. I am still high on him but mat monsters like Matthews and Bergeland will likely expose that tank. Metcalf is likely one of his primary training partners and coach, so I expect that to be addressed by season's end.
