  1. I meant to include them as well. The only matches I don't see as possible wins for Cornell, all health providing, are 157 amd 285.
  2. Sorry, again. All I really mean is you can't compare Spencer Lee to Carter Starocci. They aren't the same. They mean different things to different fan bases.
  3. Not sure about you, but I squat to shit daily (usually?) and I presume many hooman beans have been doing so for the last 6,000-8,000 years or 160,000-300,000 years, depending on what book(s) you choose to believe in.
  4. You mentioned Stalrocci. I was just correlating criticisms. Lee is seen as an epitome of 'What is' Iowa wrestling insofar as success and failure. His failure meant the Brands bros suck more than they did before the tournament. Stalrocci isn't seen as an epitome of 'What is' Penn State wrestling insofar as success and failure. The reasoning for that is his attitude(s).
  5. Anyone know if Gilman actually retired yet, or no?
  6. Also - Your avatar is top notch. Like it.
  7. I took what he said for that to apply to his shows, not to FRL.
  8. Also of note during FRL he did mention that he changes people's names during his stories for the sake of identity protection. I took that meaning as if his stories were more true, just that the names attached to them weren't.
  9. At NCAAs? Nobody is going to upset them this season. It just isn't logical. You would need them to under-perform in nearly every weight and just one other team to over-perform at every weight. NC State, Ohio State, Iowa, and Michigan are the likely culprits for an over-performance. To the extreme needed wouldn't realistically be possible. NC State, for example. 125 - Comacho - 1st 133 - Orine - 3rd 141 - Jack - 6th 149 - Arrington - 3rd 157 - Scott - 1st 165 - Singleton - 5th 174 - Faison - R16 184 - Fishback - 5th 197 - Hidlay - 1st 285 - Trumble - 3rd (Trephan isn't doing it) Penn State would need to do something like this then... 125 - Howard - DNQ 133 - Nagao - 8th, Soph Slump 141 - Bartlett - 7th 149 - VanNess - 7th 157 - Haines - 5th 165 - Facundo - 0-2 174 - Starocci - 2nd 184 - Truax - 4th 197 - Brooks - 2nd 285 - Kerkvliet - 2nd For both those extremes to happen just isn't going to be a thing. In a dual format it is quite similar. For example, Michigan COULD win 125, 133, 141, 157, 165, 174, and 285. Winning them all is a tall task and would need a multitude of things to line up and probably certain Penn State starters to be sick, injured, or out.
  10. I mean... I imagine it would actually be easier to make a list without, to be honest. That said, a list from the M.E. of wrestling (1999 to now) would be much shorter. Times are a changing. I was a black man wrestling in the B1G in the '80s. Guess how many of us there were then. It is more balanced demographically than it ever has been and it seems to be balancing out each year - more and more. Especially to the regards of women's wrestling too. That is not to say that racism or sexism or any sort of 'isms is more right then than it was now. Society was just more indifferent to it and enforcing of it then - which to me makes it worse, but that is a topic for a different day when we've had enough to drink. I believe there should be a happy medium to what many keyboard warriors are crying for as far as social justices and the extremely high levels of sissy that we have been seeing. Unfortunately we can't see any social injustice right now without every single Nancy, Joe, and Sam crying until they can't breath anymore. It's terrifying how much power cancel culture really can have on people and things. Like... I had an Aunt Jemima, an Uncle Ben, and a cat named Rastus. You didn't see me crying about racial appropriation. All I mean is we can be strong and appropriate. The level that thread sunk to was neither and I commend you, @VakAttack, for standing up for what was right as well as many others. I am of the mind that while Penn State and Cael may be wrestling now, Iowa and Oklahoma State are what wrestling are. We need all three to be good and great to grow the sport to it's peak potentials. These sort of charlie horses are a nuisance to that. I am sure like the Jason Leonard crap of the week prior that this will also get swept under the rug. That is probably better for the sport in the name of public image, I guess?
  11. I mean yes and no. The blatant sexism displayed in that scene is comparable, however it is a fictional movie. Iowa actually relies (relied) on this turdbiscuit for a lot of money and they are willing to lay in bed with him over any amount of blatant sexism and ignorant bigotry. We are lucky that wrestling truly is small in this country. If any manner of one of those 'left' hyperactive feminists or anyone from The View found out what was said and in the manner in which it was said, Iowa wouldn't even have a wrestling program. No Iowa is bad for USA Wrestling.
  12. With that turdbiscuit over there Jason Leonard, I doubt they can leave.
  13. Well shit I feel like a dumdum gumdrop. My apologies.
  14. I don't think that is culturally accurate.
  15. Huh? Stalrocci comes off arrogant and pompous and does himself very little favors when he opens his mouth or lets his fingers run on the twitterspheres.
  16. 2022 was his last... Yeah. Is he saying he is going to wrestle?
  17. Didn't he graduate like... two years ago?
  18. These are both fairly good points that I conveniently forgot. I don't really have a defense for it. The only thing I might think is that maybe Nickal wasn't on the up and up with the senior coaching staff like Brooks is.
  19. How do you mean? Nickal was already part-time. That is apples and oranges. Both are a fruit, but one deserved the focus there. AB is full-time. Even so, with DT and AB, DT deserves the focus more. He is the defending WC.
  20. I'd ***duck duck goose** that Roo up mega-bad. Make him my bitch.
  21. I can see that. Also, thinking realistically, I don't think we'll see as much shuffling as I would almost prefer in the pre-olympic collegiate year. I would almost prefer to see some guys be a bit more selfish. Like Stalrocci, for example. While I don't think his attitude is conducive to the NLWC mentality, I do think it is the appropriate approach. I think he should also seriously consider taking the Oly-shirt or flat out dropping to 165lbs if he intends to make a serious run at 74 KG. If he cannot do that he needs to consider 184lbs/86 KG. Being as I am sure he beats Truax out, I don't know what that would do internally. Cael likely tells him no. All this said, I do wish we saw more of our Freestyle gents gravitate more towards the weight class(es) that will suit their Oly runs better. - 125(+0.7) fits 57 KG (125.7lbs) - 141(-2.3) and 149(+5.7) fit 65 KG (143.3lbs) - 157(-6.1) and 165(+1.9) fit 74 KG (163.1lbs) - 184(-5.6) and 197(+7.4) fit 86 KG (189.6lbs) - 285 is the only one that properly fits 97 KG (213.8lbs) and 125 KG (275.6lbs) So 133 doesn't really fit any weight, so I would prefer to see Arujau and Fix both at either 141 or 125. Johnny D said 149 was better for him, but he never filled out to 149. I could see where 157 can go 74 KG just as easily at 165 (see Nolf, Jason), but I would think 165 would be better for that. A guy like KOT could go 174 and still drop, as he wouldn't be big (like Johnny D at 149). Pipe dreams.
  22. Honestly Brooks and Taylor already know each other's strengths and weaknesses intimately. They don't need to coaches to tell them what to work on. I imagine it is more of them telling to coaches what they want to work on. From there they are probably very tight-lipped about individual coaching strategies. NLWC and the guys leading them aren't the Brands Bros. They will be discreet and give them their fair shot. Furthermore I imagine that Brooks will STILL be Taylor's +1 at Worlds this year even after (if) he beats him. It is a different culture than the kill or be killed and it is why I don't think Stalrocci fits the mold anymore. Sure he wins. That is it. His mentality is a very selfish mentality to approach and I think that is why you don't see Nolf or Dake or any other NLWC (or Penn State) guy saying many things good about his character - where they do about each other and everyone else.
  23. He lost to guys they beat, more or less. Also, I think that he is a 174lber naturally so the grind of heavier and stronger guys got to him towards the end of the season. It isn't like if Salazar at Minny decided to head up to 197... he would still be jacked or if VT's Lewis goes up to 184... he would also be jacked then. Harman didn't grow in to 184.
  24. Smith, KOT, and Askren have said that this was the reason he went 165 as a true frosh. Had Mocco not opted to also go up to 174 KOT would have done a redshirt as a true frosh or had to have gone 174, because he was not going to push his (best) friend up a weight when he didn't want to go. I want KOT to go 174 this season, FWIW, with Mocco going back down. I want to see him take out another Natty Champ.
  25. If Lewis does go 184, what does that do for the VTech lineup? It puts Fisher out a season, unless he goes up and takes the spot from Smith AND Stewart (possible, but I don't know about that...). If this happens I would be all for Ulrey at 157, Andonian at 165, and Brady at 174 - or whoever wins it at 174 (Fisher drops?). Honestly I would just be for Andonian going 165 either way. I want to see him throw his hat in the ring at 74 KG and I think him going 165 helps him get used to the weight better before hand. Doesn't happen, probably, but I would like it to. Before I was all for Lewis going 165 again because he is massive at 174, but I also understood that him going 184 would still mean him taking 86 KG, rather than 74 KG, as a serious option.
