  1. Building a fictional Iowa lineup for next season 125: Ayala 133: Chris Cannon 141: Alirez 149: Parco 157: PK/Caliendo 165: PK/Caliendo 174: Arnold/Ferrari 184: Arnold/Ferrari 197: Ferrari 285: Keuter
  2. from purely the perspective of bringing eyes to the sport the prospect of Carter Vs AJ 3 times in one year sounds absolutely glorious.
  3. you have to wonder if these Michigan donors are going to continue to shell out this kind of money after doing all that last season to get third and miss first by 100 points.
  4. I guess my point more so was that in their first two meetings he scored 12 and 7 points and then never scored another offensive point against him. While Roman certainly jumped levels in watching their matches after their first meetings it was like watching the same match over and over again with Austin failing to make any adjustments.
  5. I think to the topic of Iowa not developing guys or making them worse I dont think either is inherently true. I do think they are very bad at developing guys in certain aspects of wrestling. For instance when RBY took away Austins ability to get inside control they did not seem to be able to figure out another attack for Austin to go to or even another way for him to force rby into a position where he could then regain inside control. He did go leftie single but roman was constantly grabbing ankles and either scoring or that position would get stalemated but that seemed like a position they could have improved upon as well. Where they are very good I would say is guys do not seem to get ridden very often there. Austin was very bad on bottom his true freshman year and even his first year there but improved upon that a ton. Across the board they are also incredibly sound positionally and in their head hands defense. My biggest gripe would probably be their inability to scramble past one or two sequences. Aside from Dpencer, Eiermen, Siebrecht, Kemerer who I all believe had that ability going into the program s/o mike eirmen, young guns and whoever siebrecht trained with in HS.
  6. that's really awesome for bekzod I was not sure he was even going to get down to 74 but figured zhamolov would handle him, I wonder if he competed.
  7. That was my thinking as well I feel like the most points the one guy could score at NCAAs for his career is around 100? With the Rayney brothers I feel like not only do you bring in two very good wrestlers but a workout partner for each guy to help them not stall out in progress. so even if they both low AA you're probably getting 100 points from them with the upside of a high AA or national title which could push that up to like 120-140 points and a better dual team.
  8. They should spend some of this money on some new coaches so in the future they don't have to go out of their way to buy guys due to a lack of development in room. not meant to be a jab at them buying guys I'm hoping they get all of them simply so we have a competitive team race.
  9. 65 and 74 are always the most difficult weights internationally in my opinion. The Kadi match feels like more of a one off and Kadi at his best is absolutely phenomenal I remember their were rumors that Dake was not 100% for that olympics as well. I think Kadi also just gave him a very weird feel and alternatively Dake seemed to feed right into that metzger kadi wanted to hit. As for Sidakov with DT losing hes probably the #1 p4p wrestler in the world now when you think about it hes 3-0 against arguably the United States best p4p wrestler at the times he beat them. Hes beaten salkazonov twice who's won the last 4 European championships and beat zhamolov who a lot of people penciled in as the guy to overthrow Sidakov (hes gonna be at the olympics as well this year for Uzbekistan which just makes an already insanely deep weight that much deeper.
  10. Are we talking about Alex nini or the other one? I think Alex nini could be very good not sure if hes a 157 probably a 141/149 but I think he has upside.
  11. https://rokfin.com/article/17250/Collegiate-Performance-at-the-2024-US-Open-U20-Freestyle-Tournament cool thread for the guys that red shirted this year or are coming in
  12. I have heard about this something to do with organ weight which he has organs the size of an infant so he could simultaneously compete at 125 and 174, if they account for his continuous bone growth despite being 133 I think he could maybe even squeeze a third weight out. Like you said though I'm not previed to all the neuenses of this so we will have to wait and see.
  13. I wonder if Jacori ends up going 165, I know that was the original plan, but by the sounds of it there is no way levi is doing 157 again so you'd think it would be worth it to make the cut at what looks like a deep but wide-open weight next year. Meyer will be back, but they never hit so while I'm one of the biggest believers in Meyer there is you'd have to put Jacori as the pre-season favorite and close to a lock to make the finals.
  14. Kyle Dake started aging backwards about 4-5 years ago so he may have a year of eligibility back he could slot in.
  15. both 2x ironman and super 32 placers the smaller one won Fargo in both styles I believe last year the other was at worlds and won gold in Greco and then the heavier one made both teams for cadets beating his brother in the finals for free. the heavier one probably had the best who's 1 match ever with jax this last year I would watch it if you haven't insane number of points.
  16. Not sure if this is a thread already but seemed like a good one to have. To start a conversation, I was thinking about the class of 2026 and was wondering if as a coach you guys would rather get both Rayney brothers (I assume they are a package deal) or one of Bassett/Forrest.
  17. Very true I always felt like Dake could get one if he needed it though, like after DT doubled him in the finals he immediately went and got that back. Carter early on definitely relied more on winning one position matches. Its hard to say yet with Angelo having not seen him in college but I feel like Arnold keeps every match relatively close whereas Carter at least separated from guys that were never going to sniff the blood round. I just think it's hard to go 20-0 at Ncaa's if you aren't cruising in some matches. He's going to be a RS freshman next year though so he could certainly make jumps in his offense however that does not seem to be the Iowa way.
  18. Gabe and Angelo are both guys that rely super heavily on their defense. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but unless they expand their offense I think to be able to win 4 national titles you need more than a few go to attacks and super stingy defense.
  19. I was not familiar with his game I saw his record when I was doing some NCAA drafts I feel like he could jump levels in that room.
  20. I don't even know if Teemer helps them that much. Id rather have Caliendo if the rumors are true he can make that weight or PK. even with both of them they still have nobody for 141 unless Ryder block can get down Im optimistic Kale Peterson will be good but hes probably not a big point scorer right away.
  21. I had heard something about ASU when the season was still going on seems like a good fit.
  22. 2-1 at Fargo last year 10-0 and 5-3 at u17 trials
  23. Morgan Turner could be on her way as well. she's beaten Jaclyn bouzakis 3 times and is 3-0 against her and Bouzakis beat two NCAA's 1 ranked woman by tech this season. She has a cadet cold and is probably on her way to another one this year. Took third in Illinois big class boys states last year at 106 and I think she weighed like 95lbs.
  24. hoping he goes to Missouri they need a 157/165 whichever weight steed does not go and if they get him and Hendrickson they will have a very very good team.
