  1. ODU experienced the same quick but still painful death of my alma mater. Brutal example and thank you for reminding me to waste an email to the current AD of both institutions. Liberty I cannot morally or ethically support. UNT has hope. Denton, TX is an oasis, a bastion of light in a plight of darkness. I am rooting for the UNT club. I used to travel to DFW frequently and if the opportunity comes up again I will try to observe the room and extend some financial support.
  2. Nevills' peak is bloodround. Not bad, not great, will benefit from a depressed field at 285 comparatively speaking. 6 spots are consumed by Kerk-Hendrickson-Schultz-Cass-Davison-Elam. Anything else is up to the bracket gods. Hi would you like Max Renteria to be your 125? I'll take your 125 kegger if you take my 125 pounder
  3. Right but club does not equal funded NCAA program unfortunately.
  4. Wait are we saying AI chatbots aren't the real life version of Skynet? Who could have predicted that except *everyone* who works in a technology role. My toddler is smarter than the chat bots I develop for a living. And they're very good chat bots. But they also would eat lead paint chips if I told them to, just like my toddler. And they would screw that up in the same spectacular fail fashion that my toddler would.
  5. I'm really surprised that UNT hasn't produced at least a men's team given the explosive growth of that athletic program. It would fit in well in Denton.
  6. Carbondale, IL is doing alright. Middle of nowhere southern Illinois - 2 hours south of St. Louis, 3 hours north of Nashville, 6 hours south of Chicago. Cam Caffey, Zane Richards, Alli Ragan off the top of my head. Not too shabby for a town of 20,000.
  7. This thread topic makes my heavyweight heart happy. Thank you. Also, Hendrickson is taking out Kerk next year. Book it.
  8. Caliendo will be in the conversation for a title next year with this move. The question is how long anyone on the staff/ potential RTC pipeline wants to stay in Fargo, ND. Harsh winters far from anything can lead to wanderlust very, very quickly.
  9. Total Domination
  10. Ok I’ll bite like a chump. What makes you think Parris (not to be confused with world champ ParrisH) will score a point much less take a match from Steveson?
  11. Raw horsepower and nothing more is the basis of my pick. Macch is a big boy with lesser technique, but with the cut to 92 I don’t know that he has the bigger gas tank and it may be a war of 6 minute attrition. However by the second match he will have at least 12 pounds on Zahid which will likely be a factor - Zahid is a 79 and I can’t be convinced otherwise
  12. Fix was better in 19 than his weak silver in 21. But was the tourney field in 19. He has become a significantly defensive-minded wrestler because everyone knows to watch out for the hook/inside trip and he hasn’t developed a go-to weapon in the interim. He has at least three more years in him to get that resolved but I think a change of scenery and mentality will be necessary.
  13. If I’m Mason Parris I already changed all my passwords so the intern running my social media accounts doesn’t chirp at Gablezilla
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  15. What did Zahid weigh at the scales yesterday morning? Even with his signature lack-of-cardio puffy appearance, he looked pretty small for 92. Edit: watched his post-match interview where he said he weighed in at 195 pounds/89kg. He didn't look that big to be honest. I am surprised he walks around above 186ish even as tall as he is.
  16. DeSanto probably had no idea this is even a rule in freestyle
  17. When he runs into Vito he's going to look flat as the earth
  18. Required homer picks: 87 GR: Braunagel 57 MFS: Richards Actual picks will go very chalk with only one "upset" 57 Gilman 2-1 the first two matches will be tight and the third... well, I hope I'm wrong. 61 Vito 2-0 and they will be fun. Fun watching him take The Leap this year and we all recognize it so we can appreciate it. 65 Yianni 2-0. This is the only matchup where a returning team member could be upset in my mind. I don't think it will happen, but no one would be surprised if Lee wins one or two matches and contends for a medal. 70 Zain 2-0 and will probably grab a sandwich because I won't miss anything if I get up 74 Dake 2-0 methodical dismantlings 79 JB 2-0 but will be fun matches 86 Taylor 2-0 in two snoozers against Sumo Jesus 92 Mike Macch 2-1 with the "upset" because the size disadvantage finally catches up to Zahid 97 Snyder 2-0. It is crazy to think that a prime 28 year old, 6x consecutive world medalist/ 2 time world champ has little to no chance 125 Gable 20-0 (that's going to be the score after two matches)
  19. Kollin Moore is the current embodiment of the wrestling universe's little brother and I feel for that dude. Other than Kyle Conel's no good very bad weekend and covid stealing his senior year when he was finally going to get his shine, Moore has only been behind some real hammers in Cox, Nickal, Snyder, now Zahid...
  20. Just needs some of that pure Colombian cold spray and he’ll be fine
  21. Both feeds are frozen for me. And Flo will blame the venue. So I will blame USAW for putting on a premiere event at a freaking high school.
  22. Illinois just put another competitor into Final X. Great showing from Zac Braunagel at 87 greco!
  23. Why would KOT actively shrink his body to a non-Olympic weight during an Olympic season?
  24. Carr is too small. Griffith maybe, depends on what his cut has been to maintain 165 but Starocci is every bit of 174 despite claiming he is going to make it down to 74 for OTT. KOT yes plz see ya Starocci
