Fox will likely follow suit soon. Will be interesting as Fox hosts B1G Network. ACC Network is hosted by ESPN. Big 12 is co-hosted by ESPN and Fox so that may get very interesting very quickly from a legal battle perspective over gambling rights. MAC is hosted by HudlTV so there could be a gambling partnership there over the next few years as well as other networks follow ESPN’s lead.

DT called out Sadulaev for all the world to hear. That directly implies that he feels he is better than Snyder, weight class or not. So why doesn’t he go up Chamizo (57,65,74) and Cox (86,92,97) certainly did not back down from the challenge of going up to a third weight class after earning major accolades at the two prior. Those are two good recent comps everyone is familiar with. Additionally, Carl is known to have a keep-what-you-kill lineup but you’re welcome to stay even if you don’t win the spot and that cut is even deeper at the senior level with no team titles on the line. So I don’t feel that my comment was out of left field or (heavily) biased.

Ahh I completely misread the first part of your tweet. I interpreted it to say "people from the state of Illinois overestimate their prowess."I was like "uhhh Ramos, Cassioppi, McGee, etc" but you are absolutely correct. I wholly agree that U Illinois has missed big time - they finally got rid of Hef but left the cupboard extremely bare. NIU has always been home to the placers and 1x champs that weren't blue chips but certainly too good not to be college athletes, used to compete with EIU back when they had a team for those same kids and it feels like SIU is trying to make suburbs inroads to do the same. I don't think NIU gets much in the way of scholarship support which makes it hard to convince a kid to move to Dekalb so it's back to the vicious circle of NCAA D1 wrestling. All this to say Poeta is doing yeoman's work with the roster, the staff, and the new facility.

Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 shuffle (maybe) coming in hot

They increased the real $ by unlocking a regional economic driver with a supplemental long-term committed athletic revenue driver. Except they can't say profit or revenue because they're all "non-profit organizations" wink wink -
Oh so he lost to one person other than the world’s PFP king of the mountain? Would you like to hear about the guy perennial world title chaser Brandon Slay beat? Snyder slander will not be respected. Ask Taylor why they don’t wrestle or ask Nickal why he FFT’d.

Only a fool would believe the Big Ten did not approach Stanford and Cal at some point. Only a bigger fool would not follow the money trail which has been very explicitly laid out by @ILLINIWrestlingBlog. Only the biggest fool would not put two and two together by seeing x+y=z x=the big money y=the regional sports money z=zero revenue [I mean cmon folks it’s a bunch of non-profits how dare anyone think this is about “total revenue” because it OBVIOUSLY equals zero out of the graciousness of their hearts] -
Back in the day if you saw a dude with a tattoo in hs you knew you were in for a bad time. Then I ran into someone with a tattoo AND a pair of the Illinois special edition Nike shoes. That was most assuredly not a fun time. He was a very, very, very bad man and he bumped up from 189 to prove how bad he was.

I was very much over my “twenty years ago” until I saw a new Mocco running amok and then? Yeah… flashbacks to ‘Nam when Charlie was foot sweeping me to hell. I’ve never been so happy that my kid not only isn’t the same age group but also that he doesn’t like wrestling and the Mocco bad man can’t hurt this family any more. How’s the lawsuit going btw?

They really will let anyone into this place nowadays.

I never thought any of the three is indecent. But, the Gopher thread was nuked at the old place which certainly felt like because an institution's legal and/or PR team reached out very sternly; I only know of one thread nuked here [but I don't keep up with The Zoo] and that was airing some pertinent dirty laundry that took that level of public action to get attention; this one is wholly and legally public. My questions to you, a Journalist (I give you a big J unlike some bums in an illegal non-compete state that try to claim that distinction right up until it doesn't suit them) and as the holder of our keys 'round these parts is this: Why can this stay up? Why did the previous instance at this site not? What is the difference(s) between the two stories that came up on this site? What is the difference of pending legal cases that stays up here versus the old place? Again, ombudsman questions. Nothing more, nothing less. Also, we were stuck entertaining clients last night that were extremely boring. There may have been delicious aperitifs that lent themselves to me playing on my phone, but since I put these posts into the ether now I have to follow through <insert NoRagrets tattoo>

Snyder is the second best wrestler on the planet.

Nearly identical speed which I would give a very slight edge to Focus, identical functional strength, identical gas tank (which when extrapolated to heavyweight is likely to be better for Hendrickson), identical defensive technique, and significantly better offensive technique in one move + chain wrestling + counter-offense-to-offense wrestling by Hendrickson. You can't back up against Hendrickson because he is as long as Focus so the edge game advantage goes out the window; he has a motor that has only been one REALLY stupid brain fart match from going 100mph all the time; he has better chops taking third in a tougher weight class than a freshman, albeit outstanding true freshman, won. And if you want to go to a FS comparison he would likely break Focus' ribs. And the crowd would roar. Alas none of this matters because either 1) Focus never wrestles again, or 2) even if he does return, he has been out of the game for too long at the highest level where he rightfully earned his place. To pivot - we all know GS would win, but I would like to see a motivated Steveson vs Hendrickson match and I think the results would open eyes for a few sequences.

My two cents: Another thread on the old place was nuked because legal documents involving a high-profile NCAA athlete were posted. A certain thread was nuked on this place. I have to be a self-righteous ombudsman and ask what the difference(s) may be. I have a strong (and supportive fwiw unless proven otherwise) hunch, but I do feel it is important to hear from the keeper of the keys himself. Would you be willing to share with the masses?

Hendrickson>Focus yesterday today and tomorrow. Styles make matchups and Hendrickson is a really, REALLY bad matchup for anyone. And that includes Kerk next time they meet up in folkstyle.
