  2. Weird way to spell "bribe Thomas Bach" but okay See above.
  3. The real team race is the runner-up trophy everyone chased along the way.
  4. Texas and Silicon Valley + NorCal are 100% interchangeable if you are comfortable swapping Patagonia vests and cowboy cosplay.
  5. Disavow if true.
  6. It was a whole human more than "just" 60 pounds. He said he lost 200 and was still 15 over when they pulled the plug. You do the math...
  7. And (men's) wrestling can mete out 9.9 scholarships. Very unfortunately the statistical reality is neither 12.6/18 or 9.9 happens at the majority of institutions because both are poor sports. I'm not trying to argue, I'm just pointing out that anything other than FB or MBB is a struggle to allocate funding. It is the hill all olympic sports have been climbing as long as the scholarship game has existed. At least NIL is helping to defray some of those costs by essentially creating a legal, local version of The Bag Man for sports that did not previously have such a figure. It may only be a pair of shoes and some clothes or maybe a free Ford Focus lease or heavily subsized rent at an off-campus apartment, but it is something.
  8. Phishing herpes Dragons
  9. chaotic neutral
  10. Did I mis-speak about Woods meeting Alirez in the NCAA finals?
  11. That's a false anecdote. There is less of a chance for a scholarship for track, field, or xc than even in wrestling and maybe as bad as swimming. Very much falls into the self-funded group.
  12. Yikes forgot about that beatdown! Nickal really lost twice because, once again, refs are scared to call a pin against PSU. But Nickal stormed through the (much weaker) 92 bracket and had two tight matches against Cox. I think he would have made the standard PSU adjustments and taken out Heflin if they met again. PD3 would have been a blowout. All just conjecture anyways, but it's the offseason so what else is there to talk about lol
  13. He's on that Carter Starocci "cut my leg off" diet
  14. If David Taylor didn't keep secrets then Nickal, Zahid, and Ringer all would have gone 86 which would have likely removed Downey & Heflin from the picture. But instead Taylor was worried someone else may go get a medal and the world champ just couldn't let that happen on his watch.
  15. Weightlifting is currently an absolute shitshow for a number of reasons far too lengthy to dive into without ending up in the Non-Wrestling board. The chopping block for that sport wasn't just a message, it was the IOC drawing a very hard line in the sand; wrestling's cut was a shakedown so not quite an apples to apples comparison.
  16. I don't know that I agree with this statement. He had a single SV loss to in his opening match to Pletcher his frosh year and would have been the #1 or #2 seed (I can't remember if Lugo or Pletcher won the B1g finals but that was your 1 and 3 seeds). 2021 you may recall that Stanford was cutting the program so he overloaded his academic schedule to graduate from Stanford in 3 years in order to transfer somewhere to wrestle the following year and he quite literally stepped on to the mat to still make R12, and if anything he "regressed" in 2022 finishing "only" 6th place with a return to normalcy 2023 at Iowa. Did Woods improve as much as the next person with 5 years under their belt? Absolutely. But I don't feel like he took any special leap at Iowa because of Iowa last year. NCAA finalist has always been the expectation for Woods.
  17. NCAA Article link here which was last updated April 8, 2020 Nearly eight million students currently participate in high school athletics in the United States. More than 480,000 compete as NCAA athletes, and just a select few within each sport move on to compete at the professional or Olympic level. The table shows how many high school and NCAA athletes compete in each sport along with an estimate of the percentage of high school athletes going on to compete in the NCAA. In contrast, the likelihood of an NCAA athlete earning a college degree is significantly greater; graduation success rates are 86% in Division I, 71% in Division II and 87% in Division III. 18. @TitleIX is ripe for reform don’t go co-opting. May not end the way you want it to. Or maybe it will. But probably not.
  19. Why would TnT have any problem with an individual who has gone through legal due process of a charge sexual in nature? Young legally adult aged men will just be legally adult aged men after all. https://case-law.vlex.com/vid/brands-v-sheldon-community-892105121
  20. My opinion is that we see a repeat from Gable: he wins OTT but doesn’t accept because he wants to keep the allure alive. It’s a trap game because if Parris does anything but win gold then everyone will say “if it were Gable…” and if he beats Parris who’s then goes in to win gold then people will (rightfully) say “Gable doesn’t lose…” He is pursuing being famous rather than pursuing a GOAT career path in Olympic wrestling. That is his choice and I respect it, this is just how I see it shaking out. And even moreso if he is not all-in then I can see Geno beating him and Zare running amok. He needs to be all-in or else he legit deserves to be goat’d based on only half assing his way to another Olympic gold and shuts the door on that convo forever.
